Story
Junior joined our family when he was a puppy from family friends that were having issues finding a home for him mentioning they were going to take him to the pound, due to not being able to afford to keep him. He grew up with his best friend Penny, who unfortunately has left us. Junior is now alone and due to our busy schedules, we do not have the opportunity to spend the time or give the attention he deserves. He is very sweet and loving with a lot of energy.

**Please scroll down and read the entire bio before emailing with questions. We will not respond to emails that ask questions already in the bio of the pet or generic questions of 'how old is it?', 'can I get more information?', 'oh it's so cute', etc. You must fill out an application in order to schedule an appointment. **Here is a link to our online application https://almosthomenm.rescueivey.com/apply/adopt The application can also be found and downloaded from our main website https://almosthomenm.org/available-for-adoption   Once you have filled out an application please watch your emails to schedule an appointment. We typically respond within 24 hours if you do not hear from us after completing the application please send us an email adopt@almosthmenm.org   Approximate DOB 1/17/2026 – About 6 lbs right now as adults we are expecting them to be between 25 and 45 lbs but we honestly don't know as they were strays with no parents present we are just using our best guess at breeds based off their personalities and looks. We were told they were Chihuahua mixes however we seriously don't think so - they may be a mix of Aust Shepherd, JRT, Beagle, and maybe heeler.  History: These babies were turned into a local shelter at about 5-6 weeks old and only weighing in at 1-2 lbs each. They were severely dehydrated and too young to be away from their momma and needed a little extra support so we received a rescue transfer request. We agreed and now they are old enough to go into their forever homes. They were turned in by themselves with no mom so we are using our best judgement based on their looks and temperaments to try and guess their breeds. We have 4 boys in this group - Aspen, Canyon, Forest, and River. Current Behavior: Very smart and outgoing. These are high energy babies who love to play and wrestle. They love toys, snacks, and lots of love and attention. They love all the other dogs they have met, loved the cats, and are just awesome babies who would love their own families to play with and then cuddle up with to watch some tv.  Housetraining- Currently using puppy pads and have mastered the dog door.   Their ideal home is active with lots of attention and outdoor activities. They will do best with older children who can keep them busy and a family who can keep up with them. Hikes, walks, runs, tug, fetch, maybe agility - they would love it all.     Neutered, microchipped, and current on all vaccinations Adoption Fee $250 We do welcome out-of-state adoptions. Adopters must make arrangements to come out to meet and complete the adoption. The link to our online application is at the top of the bio or you can send an email to request the application or download it from the main site www.almosthomenm.org and email it to adopt@almosthomenm.org Dogs are seen by appointment only after an application has been submitted and approved. If you have other dogs it is recommended you bring them out to to the meeting.  Steps for adoption: Read bio, complete the application, once approved you will receive an email asking you when you would like to come out to meet the pet, we will schedule an appointment, and then directions will be emailed to you. Adoption fees are cash only.   If you would like to provide toys and snacks for the dogs in our care while they wait for their happily ever afters we would truly appreciate it. Story
Elanna is a stunning 9-month-old Australian Shepherd/Heeler mix who looks like she was painted by the New Mexico sky itself — her white coat splashed with soft grey patches is as striking as her oversized ears and soulful amber eyes. At just nine months old, she's still figuring out this big world, and while she may be a little timid at first, her friendly heart wins out every time. She's already house trained and does great with other dogs, so she'd thrive with a patient family and a canine companion to help build her confidence. If you're looking for a loyal, beautiful girl who just needs a little time to bloom, Elanna might be exactly who you've been waiting for.
