Story
If personality could wag a tail, Tripp’s would never stop This little guy doesn’t just enter a room — he makes it brighter. Tripp is affectionate, animated, and full of charm in a way that feels effortless. He’ll tumble into your lap for belly rubs, stretch out dramatically for a nap, and then pop back up ready to explore the world again. He truly lives life in two speeds: play hard and sleep harder. Tripp’s story began with a beautiful gray dapple Australian Shepherd mix mama with striking ice-blue eyes. When her owner was suddenly hospitalized and faced a serious diagnosis, she made the heartbreaking but loving decision to ask for help. Critter Cavalry Rescue stepped in to make sure Tripp and his mom would have a safe future — and now this boy is ready to find his forever family. There’s no missing the blend in him. You can see the intelligence and drive of the Aussie — he wants to learn, conquer, and figure things out. Stairs? He’s working on mastering those with determination (they were never part of his former camper life!). At the same time, he carries that loyal, slightly dramatic watchdog streak often seen in a Dachshund. If someone approaches the house, he’s ready to announce it like it’s his full-time job. Tripp is incredibly people-oriented. He doesn’t just want a home — he wants his people. He’ll shadow you from room to room, watch your every move, and try to be involved in whatever you’re doing. He’s still working on full potty training but understands pee pads and is making progress. He walks fairly well on a leash and will only improve with consistency and patience. And fair warning — this boy is a conversation starter. His unique look and confident personality will have strangers stopping you to ask, “What is he?” And you’ll get to proudly say he’s a perfect little mix of Dachshund and Aussie magic. Tripp is fostered in Nashville, TN and is available for adoption now. He can be adopted locally in Tennessee, and transport is available along the northeastern coast, serving 12 states.
