Story
I’m looking for a loving home for my beautiful blue bulldog. She is truly a wonderful dog—sweet, gentle, and full of love. It breaks my heart to let her go, but my landlord does not allow pets in the home I’m renting, and I want to make sure she gets the care and attention she deserves.

Story
Dog Name: RumRum Breed: French Bulldog Sex: male Age: ~4 years Weight: 29lbs Medical Needs: French bulldogs are a brachycephalic breed. This means RumRum needs to be watched when exercising, especially on hot days, to ensure he is breathing properly. RumRum is currently on allergy medication for his skin. We only give it every other day, and we took him completely off chicken food. I never see him itch, so I don’t think he will need to be on allergy medications forever. RumRum also has a cherry eye, which is the result of a prolapsed gland in his third eyelid. He has had this ever since he was very little, and it has not changed in size or severity. It does not appear to bother or hinder him at all. A quick look by a vet at his annual checkups just to make sure it isn’t changing should be all it requires. Housebroken: Yes. But if you miss his signal to go out, he might pee in the house. (This has only happened once.) Crate trained: Yes! RumRum goes right into his crate for a treat. He is good for 8+ hours in his crate and has never had an accident in there. He will whine and bark if he hears a noise or knows you’re in the house, but he settles down eventually. Good in the car: RumRum doesn’t have much car experience, so he still gets nervous and will pant and shake. But he’s gotten used to other new things very quickly. So I believe he just needs to get used to going on car rides, and then he’ll be fine. Good on a leash: RumRum will walk on a leash, but he is a little squirrely and will pull. His leash walking could use some work. Energy level: Medium. RumRum will trot around the yard exploring. He’ll also sprint really hard for a couple minutes if playing with another dog. Then he’s ready to go inside and cuddle on the couch. But his cuddling is very active and squirmy at first. He’ll roll around on his back and climb all over your lap. It is VERY adorable. Once he’s got his wiggles out, he’ll settle in beside you to sleep (and snore). Need a fenced-in yard: No. But he cannot be off leash if there is no fenced-in space. If there is no fenced-in yard, a couple walks a day would be good to burn off some energy and maintain his weight. Dog Friendly: Yes. RumRum loves dogs of all sizes. He is a little hesitant when he first meets larger dogs, but warms up quickly. If yes, does your foster need another dog in its adoptive home? No. RumRum would be ok being an only dog, but he does love to play with his furry friends! And it helps to have another dog he can play with to burn off some energy and get him ready for couch snuggles. Cat Friendly: Yes! Kid Friendly: Yes! If yes, what's the youngest child you'd recommend they be placed with? When RumRum is excited, he likes to lick faces and jump up to get as close to you as possible. He can also be mouthy when he is excited. It is not aggressive biting in any way. He is simply so excited to see you that he ends up putting his mouth around your hand. For these reasons, I recommend taller kids (8+, depending on dog savviness) who can handle a little dog jumping on them and won’t get knocked over, punched in the face, or frightened by his mouthiness. Special traits that make your foster special or that we need to know about them? I’m not gonna lie, RumRum is an absolute nut! He cracks me up every single day with his floppy ears, constant piggy noises, and single crooked tooth directly in the center of his bottom jaw. His mom recently passed away suddenly, and his dad is very sick and is not able to take care of him anymore. So RumRum and his brother, Ottis, came to stay with us for a while. He has adapted really well. He’s met new little dogs, new big dogs, and new people. He’s gone on car rides and into the office with foster dad. While he takes a little longer to warm up to these new experiences than his brother, he does get there eventually. He is very sweet and just wants to love you! Foster’s Location: Dover, DE Application can be found here: https://www.grrde.org/adoption-application (If you already have an approved application on file, email GrassRootsDE@gmail.com, and ask the app team to pull your app.) ##985406##

Story
Bud is the sweetest angel that would love nothing more than a human best friend who can match his energy. What does that look like? Someone who LOVES to snuggle, and also doesn’t mind a constant shadow (lol). Bud needs to be close– preferably right up next to you while you’re working, reading a good book, or watching tv, but he does very well laying in his crate or keeping himself busy in the room nearby where he can see you. He is such a ham with a big personality– Between his silly expressions, his two visible bottom teeth, and his little nubby that turns into full body shimmies of excitement when he sees you, he’s basically a daily boost of serotonin in dog form and will bring so much joy to your life. He’s great at napping and chilling out when he needs to, but the guy goes nuts for walks and play time– When play time starts, the energy is unending! He’s obsessed with squeaky toys and playing fetch, loves to run and chase a ball (over and over and over), and also enjoys a brisk walk around the neighborhood, so he would do great with someone who likes to play and wants to get in their steps. He’s a little anxious in the car but he’s slowly getting so much better realizing that the car usually means fun things like the park. Bud also struggled with some crate anxiety at night but after a few weeks he really settled in and learned to like his crate. Bud is obsessed with people– probably more so than other dogs. So while he does great with other dogs, he would also be just fine as the only dog where someone can dote on him and give him all the attention he craves. ##2363507##

Story
CODY is a three year-old English bulldog with spina bifida. This is most likely a result of inbreeding which unscrupulous breeders do to obtain unusual colors or a shortened stature. We obtained Cody when his owners felt that euthanasia was their only option. He is not mobility challenged in anyway, but he lacks tone on his tushy and does not have complete control over his poops. He will also dribble urine but has the ability to release his bladder outside. A strict schedule, good diet and a male wrap take care of 99% of his oopsies. Cody is a sweetheart! He gets along great with the other dogs in his foster home and he loves to run! He's pretty athletic for an English Bulldog and, as long as you avoid high humidity days, he's pretty heat tolerant and can walk up to 2 miles. Cody seems to love the water! What he loves most of all is to ride in the car! Cody will make a wonderful copilot – again, just have to be careful of the heat with bulldogs.  Cody has a little bit of separation anxiety and anxiety that makes him reactive on a leash.  His foster mom is working on these issues but it will be a work in progress. Cody will most likely require more veterinary care than the average bulldog. He is available to a family with similar experience and excellent veterinary references. The first step is to fill out an application at www.companimals.org. and once approved, we will set up a series of meet and greets and a home visit with Cody. Adoption $500. Should Cody require an MRI at any time in the future, his foster mom will personally pledge $100 towards his MRI. X-rays are available upon request if you would like to share them with your veterinarian prior to starting adoption process.November 3, 2024, 10:40 am

Story
Shawny is an amazing girl who loves to play, chase balls, and be interactive. She enjoys her kiddie pool and adores her tennis balls! Despite the pics that might make her look petite, she's actually around 50 pounds. She sleeps soundly in her crate at night. She's really a perfect girl. Shawny is about 7 years young and looking for a furever place to call her own. She would do well with a doggy friend with a slow introduction but would be happy to be the star of the show. She's a funny girl-she makes people chuckle by rolling around, snorting and being goofy. Despite constantly being overlooked, Shawny just keeps smiling and hoping. Her bright personality and fun-loving spirit will light up the home of whoever is fortunate enough to adopt her. If she sounds like the perfect fit for your family, please apply at https://www.dontbullyus.com/forms/adoption-application/Please allow 5-7 days for us to process your application. If you've filled out an app over 1 week ago, reach out by email to check the status of your application. Applicants must be over the age of 25 and a homeowner. Renters who have landlord permission and stable track record are also accepted on a case-by-case basis. Meets between current dogs and prospective puppies would occur in Southern New Jersey. Adopting is an incredibly rewarding, challenging, exciting experience and lifelong commitment. Please fill out an application to start your journey to find your perfect pup. *Info & Application: www.dontbullyus.com We encourage you to send an email for information on our upcoming adoption events: adoptions@dburescue.org ##1555827##
