Story
CODY is a three year-old English bulldog with spina bifida. This is most likely a result of inbreeding which unscrupulous breeders do to obtain unusual colors or a shortened stature. We obtained Cody when his owners felt that euthanasia was their only option. He is not mobility challenged in anyway, but he lacks tone on his tushy and does not have complete control over his poops. He will also dribble urine but has the ability to release his bladder outside. A strict schedule, good diet and a male wrap take care of 99% of his oopsies. Cody is a sweetheart! He gets along great with the other dogs in his foster home and he loves to run! He's pretty athletic for an English Bulldog and, as long as you avoid high humidity days, he's pretty heat tolerant and can walk up to 2 miles. Cody seems to love the water! What he loves most of all is to ride in the car! Cody will make a wonderful copilot – again, just have to be careful of the heat with bulldogs.  Cody has a little bit of separation anxiety and anxiety that makes him reactive on a leash.  His foster mom is working on these issues but it will be a work in progress. Cody will most likely require more veterinary care than the average bulldog. He is available to a family with similar experience and excellent veterinary references. The first step is to fill out an application at www.companimals.org. and once approved, we will set up a series of meet and greets and a home visit with Cody. Adoption $500. Should Cody require an MRI at any time in the future, his foster mom will personally pledge $100 towards his MRI. X-rays are available upon request if you would like to share them with your veterinarian prior to starting adoption process.November 3, 2024, 10:40 am

Story
Shawny is an amazing girl who loves to play, chase balls, and be interactive. She enjoys her kiddie pool and adores her tennis balls! Despite the pics that might make her look petite, she's actually around 50 pounds. She sleeps soundly in her crate at night. She's really a perfect girl. Shawny is about 7 years young and looking for a furever place to call her own. She would do well with a doggy friend with a slow introduction but would be happy to be the star of the show. She's a funny girl-she makes people chuckle by rolling around, snorting and being goofy. Despite constantly being overlooked, Shawny just keeps smiling and hoping. Her bright personality and fun-loving spirit will light up the home of whoever is fortunate enough to adopt her. If she sounds like the perfect fit for your family, please apply at https://www.dontbullyus.com/forms/adoption-application/Please allow 5-7 days for us to process your application. If you've filled out an app over 1 week ago, reach out by email to check the status of your application. Applicants must be over the age of 25 and a homeowner. Renters who have landlord permission and stable track record are also accepted on a case-by-case basis. Meets between current dogs and prospective puppies would occur in Southern New Jersey. Adopting is an incredibly rewarding, challenging, exciting experience and lifelong commitment. Please fill out an application to start your journey to find your perfect pup. *Info & Application: www.dontbullyus.com We encourage you to send an email for information on our upcoming adoption events: adoptions@dburescue.org ##1555827##

Story
Dog Name: Passion Fruit Breed: Bulldog mix Sex: Female Age: 6 (estimated) Weight: 35-40 lbs Medical Needs: Received heartworm treatment recently. Will need HW test mid July to confirm successful treatment. Housebroken: No. She definitely does better on the days when her foster mom is home. For this reason, she is going to need someone who is not gone from home more than 4 hrs at a time or who can make arrangements for mid-day potty breaks. Crate trained: No. She came from a situation where she was made to live in unsanitary conditions so its all she has ever known. She currently uses a crate with a grate floor for easier cleanup. I line the pan below with puppy pads so cleanup is not so labor intensive. Behavior wise, shes very content in the crate. Good in the car: Yes, she enjoys going for rides. Good on a leash: She does pull but at her size she isn’t hard to handle. Energy level: medium Need a fenced in yard: No. Even if you have a fenced in yard, she will still require you to go out with her, otherwise, she will just stand at the door and not go potty. Or maybe you’ll get lucky and she’ll poop on the door mat. Dog Friendly: No If yes, does your foster need another dog in its adoptive homes? Nope, she wants to have you all to herself. Cat Friendly? Unknown Kid Friendly: I would not place her in a home with kids younger than teens. She is very mouthy and can get rough when playing. If yes, what's the youngest child you'd recommend they be placed with? Teens or older. Are you on the hunt for a furry sidekick to drag to breweries, dog parks, and Petsmart (because let's be real, what's better than a dog in Petsmart?)? Do you have a house party every weekend and need a dog that can keep up? Got kids zooming around like tiny tornados? If you said yes to any of these, save yourself the drama and don't bother finishing this. Passion Fruit is not your gal, folks. This little bulldog bundle of energy is half sugar, half rough-around-the-edges spice. Initially, she's all about personal space, but once you're in, she's your typical sometimes cuddly bulldog. When she first landed in her foster home, would she have taken a chunk out of me during those first few days if I hadn't let her set the boundaries? Probably. Does she nibble on me now? Only when she's playing too rough... which is often. I've got a bad case of cuteness-induced aggression around her, and secretly, she eats it up. Don't get her too amped up, or play gets real - and by real, I mean teeth-y. It's not that she's mean; she just gets overzealous. Most times, a simple redirect does the trick. Once she winds down, Passion Fruit transforms into the ultimate cuddle bug, shadowing you everywhere, begging for tough toys to 'destroy' or gnawing on a bone like it's the best thing since sliced bread. So, if you're up for the challenge of winning her heart and surviving the Passion Fruit storm, get that application in. Fosters Location: Hurlock, MD Application can be found here: https://www.grrde.org/adoption-application (if you already have an approved application on file email GrassRootsDE@gmail.com and ask the app team to pull your app ##2227373##
