Story
Meet Dunkin! This 4-year old happy-go-lucky hash brown is actually English Bulldog perfection in disguise and came to us when his owner could no longer care for him. It breaks our hearts that he had an owner who loved him beyond words. One who knew letting him go would be the best lifeline for both of them and made this difficult decision from a place of love. We promised to find this sweet man his perfect happy ending to live out all of his days being pampered and loved. Dunkin entered our rescue with his French Bulldog brother, Moose. They are being fostered together and could be adopted together (for double the bulldog fun!) or separately. Dunkin is a sausage, egg, and cheese (on a plain bagel!), but there’s nothing plain about this loveable lug. Dunkin is short, stout, and the proud owner of some seriously floppy jowls. Let’s be honest – sloppy kisses and drool just comes with the territory. Dunkin would love to share a cuddle over ice coffee and a wake-up wrap but he’s not an extreme athlete and you’re more likely to find him watching competitive speed walking on television than actually participating. He is content with a quick half mile walk (his pace is halfway between a strut and a wobble) and prefers to lounge in the comfort of a warm home snuggled in a warm blanket. Dunks is a fun-loving and playful pup who is sure to turn a lot of heads wherever he goes. With his low center of gravity, broad shoulders, and that charming and pronounced underbite (those lower teef!), he is quite the stunner! And the noises! This confident man knows what he wants and isn’t afraid to ask (snorts, moans, grunts, whines) – and those are just the noises that come out of the top half. Dunkin has already had stenotic nares surgery to help with breathing and is in great shape. He’s an easygoing man and would love a relaxed lifestyle, unlimited squeaky toys, and being wholeheartedly loved on. He is sensitive to the cold and would also love a snuggly jacket collection as adorable as he is. Dunkin can be mildly strong-willed and sometimes needs a red carpet of encouragement rolled out but is ultimately eager to please. And being an enthusiastic eater means he is highly motivated. We now know why America Runs on Dunkin. Because of a lack of history with kids, older kids would be best for this quintessential bulldog (with the most perfect corkscrew cinnamon-bun tail!). Adopters will need to understand the breed and what owning a bulldog entails. The extreme features that make Dunkin ridiculously handsome require some extra attention. Adorable wrinkles require some additional cleaning and care. That squishy and ginormous face can mean breathing difficulty with exercise or quickly overheating in the sun. And his stocky frame means he could sink like a bowling ball in water. The good news is that we have a known history on Dunkin, including prior vet care. Dunkin has already had stenotic nares surgery, a procedure that widens a dog's nostrils to improve breathing and reduce respiratory distress and is in overall good health! Dunkin’s top 3 priorities: 1. A family who really wants a couch potato and will allow a pup onto the couch and in bed for endless snuggles. 2. A family who isn’t fussy about a little drool amongst friends, particularly at the water bowl or at treat time. 3. A family who is aware of the potential medical costs associated with bulldogs of any type and is willing to care for Dunks for all of his days. Pet insurance is highly recommended.January 16, 2025, 9:07 am
