Story
Introducing Wally, a dog who has somehow survived all the cruelties that life has thrown at him and still has the sweetest disposition! Wally was found wandering the land in Sampson County, NC, and is now in the safe custody of a rescuer in the area, but he needs a foster home while he recuperates from his past experiences. The poor guy is very emaciated and only weighs 40 pounds. He is little more than a skeleton but anyone who meets him is enamoured by his easy ways and gentle nature. The videos show that he is good with other dogs and cats and he didn't even complain when he got a bath! Such a good sport! Wally definitely has some bully breed in him but that ridge on top of his head could indicate a retriever gene or two as well. Whatever his breed, though, he is a wonderful pet, good on a leash and eager to please his humans! He is now fully vaccinated and will be neutered when he is healthy enough for surgery. Meanwhile, if you are looking for a sweet companion, you may want to consider Wally. He promises to be a loyal friend! Please email nancygump1@gmail.com if you are interested in fostering or adopting Wally.

Story
This pretty girl is Talia! Talia is the sweetest lil' bulldog ever and she is looking for her forever home! Talia has been nothing but sweet with staff and absolutely loves any and all attention. Talia was a transfer to us from another facility, so we don't have any history on her. Because of this, we are requiring any resident dogs meet Talia prior to her adoption. Otherwise, Talia is a bulldog, and bulldogs can get overstimulated fairly easily. As such, we are recommending she go to a home with no children under 6 years of age, and that her adopters have experience with brachycephalic dogs. Unfortunately, Talia will likely need lifelong eye medications. Once our team of veterinarians here at the VBSPCA take a look at her, we can provide more information. If you have any questions about Talia, please see a kennel technician.

Story
Here’s what my foster mom has to say about me: “Smiley also as know as Butters also known as Butter Brains is a ball of wonder and he’s also a ball with no traction - he slides literally everywhere inside a house regardless of where and when. He will slide right into his foster siblings and be unaffected while they’re being knocked over like bowling pins. He could literally care less so he’ll need a dog or dogs that will tolerate that or be another bowling ball like himself. While he’s been in foster, he’s learned the pro’s and con’s of being a dog for example food is served on a set schedule (no need to search for it), that’s a pro, con is his foster brother is not too sharing his food 🫠 Smiley isn’t one to complain about if I go to grab a bone from him or picking up his toys, I can give treats to him without having to worry about losing a finger and whenever he sees his food bowl being filled he immediately runs to his crate to begin meal time. Speaking of crate he’ll accept the fact that he has to go into one, but you’ll definitely hear him complain. A lot. Loudly. So apartments aren’t ideal unless you have neighbors like Helen Keller. House trained? He’s getting the hang of it and he’s had accidents here and there until I learn his routine. He WILL try to outsmart you about pooping outside. He’ll make you wait and wait outside while you continue to tell him to go take a poop (about 23 times +), but he will when he’s realized he can’t out stubborn you. He’s more than likely mixed with bulldog due to how stubborn he is. He’s got little legs and a long body like his foster mom so I’d have to say he’s a mix of the unknown with a sprinkle of bowling ball bully. We aren’t sure his age since he came into animal control as a stray, but I’m assuming maybe around 3 years old. Overall Smiley Butter Boy is dog friendly, good with people, house trained, crate trained and really an affectionate rollie pollie boy that would ease into a home well with bulldog experience.

Story
Weighing in at 90lbs, Winston is the epitome of a Gentle Giant. He loves people, is great with even small dogs and cats. He walks on a leash like a pro, nice and slow. Knows basic commands, sit, stay, lay down and will shake hands with either paw. He's perfectly happy just watching tv with his humans and prefers to sit as close to you as possible. He's affectionate and loves affection. Not overly energetic or playful but the sweetest companion anyone could ever hope for. In true bulldog fashion, Winston has some breed-typical-allergies that will require lifelong management. Winston has been neutered, had full bloodwork, microchipped, vaccinated, and heartworm tested. He will come with 6 months of heartworm prevention and a coupon for 30 days of free pet insurance for his new family.
