Meet Annie – A Gentle Soul Learning to Embrace the Good Life 🐾 Annie is an 8-year-old Golden Retriever weighing 63 pounds, and she’s on a beautiful journey of learning what it truly means to be a dog. This sweet girl is still figuring things out and would do best with a patient, understanding family who can move at her pace. Annie can be a bit skittish at first and is still adjusting to the speed of people and everyday life, but when approached gently and slowly, she absolutely melts into pets, love, and hugs. Annie finds comfort in the simple things—soft blankets, cozy dog beds, and relaxing in a spot where she can keep an eye on her people. She loves being around other dogs, who help guide her and give her confidence as she explores her new world. Having a canine companion in her future home would be a huge benefit as she continues to grow. She’s already making wonderful progress in foster! Annie has learned a good feeding routine, understands where to go for potty breaks, and is beginning to explore her surroundings more while respecting her limits. She enjoys lounging in the grass or curling up on furniture for a peaceful nap. One of Annie’s cutest quirks? She has a soft spot for socks—especially ones that smell like her favorite humans. Don’t be surprised if she gently claims one as her own little comfort item! Annie is a tender-hearted girl who just needs someone willing to go slow and show her how wonderful life can be. With patience, love, and a calm environment, she will continue to blossom into the amazing companion she’s meant to be. Could Annie be the one to steal your heart (and maybe your socks)? ------ Before being rescued, many of our dogs had limited socialization, so they may need some time to adjust to life as a family pet. Older kids are often a great fit for our dogs, and homes with younger children will be considered based on each dog’s individual needs. Skills like house training and leash walking may take a little extra patience and practice. However, with understanding and a gentle hand, most of these dogs adapt quite quickly.
