Story
October 2026: Rowan is my sweet baby boy!!! I've been his 2nd momma since he was born and how lucky am I to see him grow to be the most handsome puppy in foster care. Rowie is a little over 4 1/2 months old and close to 60lbs-- maybe. He has had the best socialization with dogs of all sizes and he is lucky to play with his momma too. Rowie is cage trained beautifully and he is nearly house trained. He is a big puppy, however, and still grabs things that he shouldn't. Having raised him to be the best boy, he is very cuddly, he takes treats very gently and he walks well on leash.
I always thought Rowan was the pick of the litter because he had the most firsts when he was younger. He was the first to go up the stairs, the first to go in the kiddie pool and he is so brilliant with his retrieving skills. I want Rowan to working home-- a home where he can train in Agility, Obedience, and other fun dog sports like Tracking and Nose Works. He would be a great pup to train for his Canine Good Citizenship as well.
The new photos were taken October 3rd and I can only imagine how handsome he is going to be when he is an adult. I am only looking for a Foster to Adopt home in the Chicago area that has a young dog buddy for him and he also needs a safe fenced in yard at least 5 feet high. Dane and or Setter experience would be a bonus. Best guess is Rowie will grow to be over 100lbs as an adult.

August 29, 2026: Rowan is now a whopping 42lbs at just under 3 1/2 months old- YOWZA!!! He is growing like a WEED and almost as tall as his momma. I've had more fun photographing this puppy and I am the lucky one that gets to love on him everyday. He is getting so strong and he will be a very active puppy and will need a lot of exercise as he is 1/2 field bred English Setter. I want him to have a home where he will get lots of walks, but he is so brilliant and so food motivated that he needs to be stimulated in puppy school and even dog Agility would be something he would love. Rowan is very bright and food motivated and should excel in lots of dog sports. I want him to have a home with a large safe fenced in yard and he needs at least a young dog to play with. Best guess is he will be 90-100lbs or more as an adult.
UPDATE: Rowan aka Goin' with Rowan, is such a delightful puppy and almost 3 months old. He's handsome as well is bold and confident. He's also as sweet as can be-- loving to be held, cuddled and kissed. Rowan plays well with his siblings and also many of the adult dogs in my yard. He's got so much potential and has already played in my agility tunnel and he has also gone in kiddie pool. Rowan was also the first to climb out of the puppy pen and he learned stairs quickly. I'd love Rowan to go to a home where he can do fun dog sports like agility or fetch. He does like my dog feather toys but hasn't established point just yet. Best guess is he will grow to be 90lbs or so and will have more delicate features like his Setter momma, but he does have the coloring of his Dane daddy. The best family for my sweet Rowan will be fun and outgoing. He is very special.
On May 8th, I was notified about an English Setter that was in an over-crowded shelter in Kentucky and she was very pregnant. Luckily we got Whitley to town a few days later, and we got her to our vet and settled into foster care. She delivered the Trend Setter litter on May 17th. We were able to chat with her previous owner and suspected that the daddy might be the neighbor's Great Dane and DNA did confirm the puppies are half Dane and half Setter.
It has been a gratifying experience helping mamma Whitley deliver her puppies and making sure she gets the best nutrition and care while she nurses her big beautiful puppies. They have been handled everyday, loved on, kissed all over and now they are playing with each other which is so fun to see. I can only imagine what magnificent dogs they will grow up to be, but they will be high energy like mom and will absolutely need homes with safe fenced in yards. While Whitley is a pretty 45lb tricolor and white Setter, daddy's genetics are more dominant and the puppies look like little Danes. HOWEVER, I believe they will have delicate features like their mamma and they are already showing some very sweet Setter traits including being affectionate, and giving kisses. They also LOVE to be loved on, and especially love to be held and cuddled. These little puppies are just pure joy- so incredibly special! I am amazed how fast they are growing and can only imagine how big they will be as adults.
We are only offering Foster to Adopt in the Chicago area as the puppies will need blood work when they are 8 months old and because they are mixed with a larger breed, we want to let them grow with the benefits of their hormones to help them grow properly and to spay or neuter after a year. They will be available to move to their new homes after their exam and 1st vaccination around the 19th of July.
