Story
Are you in need of snuggles to keep you warm this winter? Meet Cora, the snuggle queen! Cora is a 2 year old, mixed breed - she is listed as Rottweiler/Springer Spaniel but she has the personality of a Golden Retriever. Cora is a happy dog who absolutely loves being around her humans. She can be found at your side, most of the time, but she also loves lounging in a comfy spot and is especially happy exploring outside. When the door opens, she bounds across the yard looking for any squirrels or bunnies that are invading her yard. Cora loves playing fetch, especially with her favorite ball. When lounging on the couch, she enjoys invading all your personal space to ensure maximum pets and love. She walks nicely on leash, though she can get a little enthusiastic when she sees other dogs. Cora also enjoys joining her foster family on outdoor patio adventures, where she likes to keep an eye on all the people and pups passing by. Cora does well with people and dogs of all sizes. She does get a little bouncy in order to get attention but she is learning that she needs to keep her feet on the ground. Cora rides well in the car and walks decent on a leash, just a little pulling when something interesting is nearby. Cora barks very little, just now and then when there is a dog outside or when she’s enticing another dog to play. Because she loves to chase small critters, she would do best in a home without cats or other small pets. Cora is crate-trained and completely housebroken. She sleeps soundly in her kennel overnight and relaxes there while her foster family is away. While Cora gets along well with other dogs, she would also be perfectly content as your one and only, soaking up all the love. This sweet and affectionate girl gave her all as a mom to her litter of 6 pups and is now looking for a home where she can be the one pampered and adored. Cora can’t wait to meet her forever family!  Adoption fee includes: Full veterinary exam, Alter, Prepaid microchip, Dewormed, Rabies vaccine (if age appropriate), Distemper combo vaccine(s) appropriate to age, Bordetella vaccine, 4DX (over 6 months of age), Flea/tick and heartworm preventative while in rescue. Adoption fee: $525.00 Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.December 3, 2025, 10:58 am

Story
Grenas (born approx 11/8/21) is my first cockapoo and apparently, they’re very sweet dogs. Grenas is an absolute love. He is shy and his favorite place for his first week with me was under my sofa. However, no matter how timid he feels, his tail is always wagging. It took a bit for him to not pull away when I moved to pet him. He doesn’t like hands coming at him from above in a way that makes me think he may have been abused. A woman who works outside collects strays she notices, and that’s how he came to NDLB. We don’t know anything about his history. The day I took him, I also took a little chi mix foster, Lourdes. They had never met before, but they were instant friends and have become best pals. They play, wrestle, snuggle and sometimes sleep together. Grenas loved Lourdes right away, while it took some time before he was totally comfortable with me. For this reason, I think he would do best in a home with another dog. I think a dog friend makes him feel more secure. He is mostly potty trained. The few accidents he’s had happened because I didn’t let him out in time. My schedule can be random and I expect with a set schedule he would have no accidents. I don’t crate because it doesn’t work well in my home, but he would like a crate if he doesn’t have another place to make a ‘den.’ (Under the sofa is his safe place here, but my sofa is raised on legs and easy to get under.) He is awesome in the car. Just lays down in the back seat the whole ride. He loves treats and is food motivated, which makes training easier. He couldn’t care less about his kibble and he grazes his meals. He was terribly matted when I got him and had to be shaved. The groomer said one shoulder was so matted he had some bruising! He won’t let me put a jacket on him yet and so I haven’t walked him much, but he’s fine with the leash. He will bark sometimes at stuff going on outside and he will snap at Lourdes if she plays too rough, but otherwise, he has zero aggression. I’ve not seen him with kids, but I’m positive he would be fine. He shouldn’t be in a home with rambunctious kids as that would make him nervous. I would not describe him as a ‘hardy’ dog even if he did live outside for a while. Once he’s comfortable, he loves pets and a little wrestling, but is never clingy or demanding. He sleeps with me at least part of the night. He is not really a lap dog. He got out once, and it took a minute or two to get him back in, but he didn’t go anywhere. My backyard is fenced so he is let out back freely. The only issue anyone could have with Grenas is his shyness. For anyone not wanting a social butterfly type of dog, he’s a total prize. Adoption fee includes: Full veterinary exam, Alter, Prepaid microchip, Dewormed, Rabies vaccine (if age appropriate), Distemper combo vaccine(s) appropriate to age, Bordetella vaccine, 4DX (over 6 months of age), Flea/tick and heartworm preventative while in rescue. Tavis is a gentle, affectionate boy who loves his people, other dogs, and even cats! He’s still learning leash manners—he doesn’t resist, but he’s still figuring out the rules. He enjoys exploring new places with his foster sister, though he’s a little hesitant to go out on his own. With a bit more confidence, he’s sure to become a wonderful walking companion. At home, Tavis is calm and easygoing. He sleeps through the night in the big bed but does just fine in his kennel when left alone (though he rarely needs it!). He’s non-destructive and enjoys relaxing with his foster sister and feline friend while his humans are away. Could this sweet, gentle boy be the perfect addition to your family? He’d be thrilled to meet you!. Note: Tavis does require a friendly, confident dog and a fenced yard in the home! Adoption fee:$695.00

Story
Age: DOB 6/12/2025 Dog friendly: Yes Cat friendly: Yes Kid friendly: Yes Potty trained: Getting there Crate trained: Yes Adoption fee: $895 *Fenced Yard Required* Are you looking for a super sweet cuddly companion? Pennie is quite literally the bestest! She weighs about 15 pounds at almost 6 months. She is a beautiful cocker and cavalier mix with heterochromia (one blue eye and one brown eye). She currently has 3 additional cocker spaniels in the foster home. She has interacted with humans as young as 3 and as old as 75. Her foster home has a human home most of the time. She likes to stay close to humans and loves to snuggle up next to you or lay in top of you. She even visited a Middle School Basketball tournament where she melted hearts and turned heads. This beautiful pup is learning lots from her older cocker foster pups who have taught her to go up/down stairs, that leaves and snow are friends and that humans are love. She is very smart, agile, as well as positively connects to our dog pack and humans alike. She knows some human commands like a whistle to come and leave it. She loves to run in the yard which is like watching joy tv. She sits for treats when she comes inside after potty training. She sleeps in a crate in foster bedroom with her littermate. She will whine softly when she needs to go out but still has accidents. She is teething so needs lots of safe toys available and redirects well. She is working on potty training and hasn’t started leash training. She is an excellent car and RV road trip companion. She loves the hammock! We have started to hear her voice and it might be the cutest sound ever. We have loved her for almost four weeks and she is ready for her forever family!
