At 6 years old and 80 pounds, Joy is everything people adore about Bernese Mountain Dogs — sweet, gentle, loyal, and just the right amount of goofy. She has that classic “Berner heart” that leans into you for pets, follows you from room to room, and looks at you like you personally invented sunshine. Joy is calm and affectionate, but don’t let that fool you — she absolutely has her silly moments. The famous “Bernese bounce” makes regular appearances, usually when she’s excited to see you or when she remembers she has legs and should use them. She’s wonderful with other dogs and friendly with everyone she meets. Truly, she’s a social butterfly wrapped in 80 pounds of fluff. And let’s talk about her love language: brushing. Spa day? Best day. Brushing session? Yes please. Extra brushing session? Also yes. She will happily stand (or lean dramatically) while you brush her and tell her how beautiful she is. She agrees, by the way. Because of her size and joyful enthusiasm, we’d recommend a home without very little kids. She would never mean to, but during one of her happy-go-lucky moments she could accidentally knock over a tiny human. Older kids who understand “big fluffy dog incoming!” would be just fine. She came to Underdog as a breeder surrender and is still learning how big and wonderful the world can be. While she has some nervous energy and takes time to trust new people, and men especially, once she feels safe, she blossoms into a loyal, affectionate companion. When Jojo came, she did have allergies and chewed her feet a lot.  We have kept her allergies at bay by feeding her Carna4 brand dog food.  That, a raw food diet, or a cooked whole food diet should be committed to be continued to keep her in optimum health. This sweet girl is potty trained, is good on a leash and loves her daily walks, comes when called, and is eager to learn with plenty of positive encouragement. JoJo would thrive in a calm, patient home with an assertive dog to show her the ropes and help build her confidence. She loves to play and has never met a dog that she instantly considers a new friend.  She would be happiest in a home with a dog 40+ pounds with whom she can race and play.  She is not the kind of pup who will rush into your arms right away, but with love, consistency, and kindness, she will reward you with a bond that runs deep.she binds closest with women, and while she does not need a fenced in yard, she must be leashed at all times. Presley is a big, lovable Poodle/Bernese mix with an even bigger heart. Expected to grow into an extra-large dog, Presley is the kind of pup who brings both fun and affection wherever he goes. At home, Presley is a world-class cuddler. He absolutely loves being near his people and will happily lean in for scratches and attention. Whether he’s snuggled up next to someone on the couch or resting nearby while his family relaxes, Presley thrives on companionship and being part of the action. He also has a playful and goofy side. Presley loves toys of all kinds, but balls are definitely his favorite. A game of fetch or tug with a sturdy rope toy will always get his tail wagging. He enjoys playing with other dogs too and gets along very well with both canine friends and people he meets. Presley has a moderate energy level, which means he enjoys playtime and exercise but also appreciates downtime. After a good game or walk, he’s perfectly content lounging with his humans and soaking up affection. This sweet boy is house trained on a consistent routine and does well in his crate when his people are away.
