Story
Meet Clara — your future best friend wrapped in a cloud of fluff! Clara is as soft as she is adorable. This sweet girl loves being part of the action and absolutely thrives in a home where she can spend time with her people. In her foster home, she’s become best buddies with the kids and is always ready for playtime, whether that’s romping around or proudly showing off her latest toy. Clara is also very focused during training sessions and is already doing great with potty training and other basic commands. Smart, attentive, and eager to please? Yes, please. She’s perfectly happy hanging out as your home office assistant, quietly chewing on a toy while you work. Clara is likely to grow into a big, beautiful girl with an even bigger heart. And we have to mention her signature look: one ear that sometimes pops up in the cutest, most irresistible way — it’s impossible not to fall in love. If you’re looking for a loyal, playful, fluffy companion who will keep you smiling, Clara might just be your perfect match. Clara is currently being monitored by a neurologist for a suspected movement condition called paroxysmal dyskinesia. From time to time, she may have brief episodes where she has trouble walking, but they are short-lived (typically under two minutes), and she returns right back to her normal self with no lasting effects. The good news is that these episodes are being managed with medication, and Clara is doing very well! She’s a happy, thriving pup who doesn’t let this slow her down. If you’re interested in adopting Clara, please apply on our website. We’d be happy to share more details and answer any questions about her care. Clara is estimated to be 3.5 months old and 18 lbs. Since we don’t know the dog’s actual genetics, this is just a guess on breed and size when grown. All dogs have had a vet examination, are up to date on all vaccinations, have been given dewormer and heartworm prevention. Dogs over 7 months have been heartworm tested. If you are interested in meeting this dog please complete the adoption application on our website at https://safehandsrescue.org/adoption-process/ and then we can contact you about setting up a meeting. We are also holding the following upcoming adoption events! Please note: All dogs/puppies will not be at every event, and some may find their home prior to the event. If you are interested in a specific animal, please check our Facebook page for confirmed attendance the morning of the event: https://www.facebook.com/safehandsrescue/ You do not need to have a Facebook account to check the Safe Hands Facebook page for attendance. We hope to see you at an upcoming Meet & Greet! Story
Caitlin is a big, fluffy bundle of affection who’s ready to fill her forever home with love and laughter. This sweet girl is a total cuddle bug — she wants to be right next to you! She has a gentle, patient personality and a goofy charm. She keeps us smiling! Caitlin is friendly, funny, affectionate, and good with other dogs. She hasn’t been tested with cats yet, however she is curious and cautious so she will easily make friends I’m sure. This smart girl is almost house trained. She is crate trained at night and will gladly play or take a nap in her x-pen during the day. She loves learning about toys and crawls right up into laps for a long snuggle. She is a puppy who thrives on human connection and routine. If you’re looking for a loving, loyal companion who brings softness, silliness, and sweetness in equal measure, Caitlin just might be your perfect match! Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please fill out an application to set up  a private meeting.  JoJo is a gentle 4-year-old Bernedoodle with a heart full of love just waiting to be discovered. She came to Underdog as a breeder surrender and is still learning how big and wonderful the world can be. While she has some nervous energy and takes time to trust new people, and men especially, once she feels safe, she blossoms into a loyal, affectionate companion. When Jojo came, she did have allergies and chewed her feet a lot.  We have kept her allergies at bay by feeding her Carna4 brand dog food.  That, a raw food diet, or a cooked whole food diet should be committed to be continued to keep her in optimum health. This sweet girl is potty trained, is good on a leash and loves her daily walks, comes when called, and is eager to learn with plenty of positive encouragement. JoJo would thrive in a calm, patient home with an assertive dog to show her the ropes and help build her confidence. She loves to play and has never met a dog that she instantly considers a new friend.  She would be happiest in a home with a dog 40+ pounds with whom she can race and play.  She is not the kind of pup who will rush into your arms right away, but with love, consistency, and kindness, she will reward you with a bond that runs deep.she binds closest with women, and while she does not need a fenced in yard, she must be leashed at all times. She does have an easier time adjusting to women versus men.  If you have the heart to offer JoJo the patience she needs, she’ll return it with unwavering love and the joy of watching her grow into her best self. &#226&#157&#164&#239&#184&#143 Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders.  Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared. Each dog receives basic grooming when coming into rescue, but for some dogs they have not received grooming attention until recently and grooming may be required shortly after adoption.  This will be at the adopters expense, so we encourage you to research the breed and be prepared for grooming expenses.  Underdog cannot guarantee hypoallergenic or non shedding qualities of any dogs in our rescue.  Some of the animals come from situations where they are lacking experience in a home and confidence in humans. In turn, they require another companion dog and/or a fenced in yard in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a    particular dog whose bio states those needs and do not currently have them, please understand that your home might not be the right fit.  Ple ase use the filter on our Adoptable Dogs page to find the perfect match for your home.   ***Be sure to check your spam/junk folder as sometimes our emails end up there***Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.If you have other questions about me you can email Underdog Rescue at <inquiries@underdogrescuemn.com> ADOPTION EVENTS:      Adoption events are updated at the top of each dogs animals' as their foster home signs up. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. If an event is not listed within their bio above, the animal is not planning to attend.  Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. We recommend filling out an application and we will set up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved. ADOPTION PROCEDURE: The first step in our process is to complete an online adoption application on our website: http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/adoptionprocess/   Note: In most circumstances Underdog Rescue will only adopt within 60 miles of Minneapolis, MN.  All of our foster animals can be seen by appointment with an approved adoption application. Contact us at http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/contact-us/ if you have further questions. FOSTER CARE: All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption, but each bio is written by the foster as they see them, in their home. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality, but it cannot be guaranteed. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves in time and with patience.  If you have an interest and ability to be a foster home, please visit our website  www.underdogrescuemn.com/foster-applications  and fill out a foster application. NUTRITION: Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets.  All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet.  All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please fill out an application to set up  a private meeting.  Keep checking back for upcoming events I will be attending!         Funky is a lovable Anatolian Shepherd with a big personality and an even bigger heart. Despite his size, Funky is convinced he’s a lap dog and will happily try to squeeze onto the couch to be as close to his people as possible. Sweet, affectionate, and eager to please, he’s the kind of dog who quickly becomes a cherished part of the family. At home, Funky is playful, goofy, and always ready for fun. He loves chasing toys and playing fetch, and he’s especially happy when he has other dogs to romp around with. He gets along great with other dogs and enjoys having canine friends to play with. Funky has also shown that he can live peacefully around farm animals, making him a versatile companion in many types of homes. Funky is a friendly boy who greets new people with a warm and welcoming attitude. He has a moderate energy level and enjoys a good balance of playtime and relaxation. While he doesn’t require a fenced yard, he’s currently working on leash training and is doing well learning to go out on leash for potty breaks and exercise. This smart pup already knows several helpful commands including “sit,” “kennel,” “outside,” “go potty,” and “wait.” He will even sit patiently and wait for permission before going to his food dish. Funky is fully potty trained and also knows how to use a dog door. Funky loves car rides and rides well, though he may “talk” a bit during the trip to let you know he’s along for the adventure. True to his playful nature, he has only shown interest in chewing on his toys. He has also tried to make friends with the household cats, though they haven’t quite returned his enthusiasm for playtime. His crate training is still a work in progress, but he continues to improve as he becomes more comfortable. Like many Anatolian Shepherds, Funky is intelligent, even-tempered, and can have an independent streak, but he truly loves making his people happy. Adding to his charm is a small overbite that gives him an extra dose of character and makes his already adorable face even more endearing. With his gentle nature, playful spirit, and affectionate personality, Funky is a truly special dog. He’s a sweet boy who just wants to love his people, have fun, and be part of the family—and he’s ready to bring plenty of joy and laughter to his forever home. I’m a growing puppy and I have not yet had a lot of experience with crates, kids or cats and I might bark if something alarms me, but I really love to learn and hoping for a family who will take me to a basic obedience class to continue to help me build confidence and dog skills. Ideally my forever home would need to be home during the day to help me with my potty training and not leave me for breaks longer than 3 - 4 hours. If you are looking for a best friend, please fill out the puppy application. The more info you include on the application the better so I can find a good match for my forever home. Get your toy box ready! **Obedience classes are required when adopting this puppy from Underdog Rescue. Many of our puppies have a mama who was not properly socialized before coming to Underdog Rescue. Since coming to Underdog, this puppy has been in a socialized and loving home, but that needs to be continued with its Adopters. Training classes teach puppies the ins and outs of being a pet while creating a bond with their new Adopter. Obedience classes are key to creating a relationship with your puppy while having it be a happy and successful member of society. Proof of Obedience Class registration is required for this puppy before adoptions can be finalized. If you would like some suggestions, we would be happy to send some trainers who have experience with Underdog Rescue, but a Basic Obedience class in your area should work! Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders. Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared. Each dog receives basic grooming when coming into rescue, but for some dogs they have not received grooming attention until recently and grooming may be required shortly after adoption. This fee must be paid within 24 hours or your application will be considered void.  We will not review or contact applicants that have not completed the payment portion.   Puppy Applications will be responded to within 5 business days, after receipt of the application fee.  Please understand that paying the fee does not guarantee you will be approved to adopt the puppy. Our goal is place puppies in homes that are suited for their individual needs. You may be willing and able to provide a great home, but if it doesn’t meet the specific needs of the puppy, we will not approve your application. We accept applications for puppies until we have a candidate that meets all of the requirements needed for the specific puppy and they have been contacted to review the adoption process as well as agree to all of the terms to move forward. ***Be sure to check your spam/junk folder as sometimes our emails end up there*** Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.If you have other questions about me you can email Underdog Rescue at <inquiries@underdogrescuemn.com> ADOPTION EVENTS:      Adoption events are updated at the top of each dogs animals' as their foster home signs up.
