** Apollo's adoption fee has been generously sponsored by Bret and Lynn Spangler ** ✨Meet Apollo!✨ He came to us after being surrendered by his previous family due to them not being able to afford his care. Apollo is a 5 year old Saint Bernard mixed breed who is as sweet as he is big! He is hesitant when first meeting new people, but then turns into his normal sweet and goofy self when he feels comfortable! He loves frolicking in the snow and leaning up against his people for love and pets. He would most likely be best as the only pup in the home due to his uncertainty around other dogs, but he's a big fan of chickens! Apollo will require a family up to the task of providing him the physical and mental exercise and training that all dogs require. ✨Meet Stella!✨ Stella is a 2-month old Miniature Poodle/Bernese Mountain Dog mix who came into us as a surrender from a commercial breeding facility (aka Puppy Mill) in Lancaster County. She is blind in one eye due to a bite that happened when she was with the breeder. The eye cannot be repaired, but is currently being treated to heal the bite. She may need the eye removed in the future, but the ophthalmologist believes it is best to leave it at this point in time! Puppy mills are producing puppies at alarmingly high rates. It is easier for them to give up puppies who are not easily sold/don’t sell as they usually have multiple litters of puppies for sale at the same time. Adopting a puppy mill survivor is life-changing—for you and them. For these dogs, everything is new and often overwhelming: people, houses, stairs, leashes, food bowls, collars, toys, TVs, ovens, doorways, pavement…the list goes on. They need adopters who can move slowly, be patient, keep expectations reasonable, and provide the understanding and tools they need to grow into happy, confident companions. Patience, positive reinforcement, and understanding are key! With the right guidance, puppy mill survivors can blossom into well-socialized, joyful dog- so our goal is always to ensure every adopter is fully prepared to give them the life and environment they need to truly thrive! Stella is a sweet but shy puppy who will require a family up to the task of providing her the ample physical/mental exercise and training that all puppies require.
