Story
Meet Flora 🌸
Flora is a beautiful 4-year-old Bernese Mountain Dog with a gentle soul and a heart full of quiet hope. She is spayed and up to date on all vaccines and preventatives, ready to begin the next chapter of her life in a safe, loving home.
Flora is very timid and shy, but beneath her soft, cautious nature is a dog who truly wants to blossom with patience, kindness, and consistency. She is currently underweight and has been shaved due to severe matting, so she has a long journey ahead as she regains her strength and her signature fluffy coat. A calm, understanding home will give her the time and space she needs to flourish.
She does well with other dogs and cats, and would thrive in a home with respectful, older children who understand the importance of giving her space as she builds trust (12 and up please). Flora is known to jump fences, so for her safety she must be kept on a leash at all times and in a secure environment. Flora is currently being treated with an anxiety med and it should be continued in her new home under vet discretion.
If you’re looking to open your heart to a sweet, sensitive girl who just needs someone to believe in her, Flora is ready to grow by your side. 💛
Before applying please take into account:
Adopting a farm dog is life-changing, for you and them. For these dogs, everything is new and often overwhelming: people, houses, stairs, leashes, food bowls, collars, toys, TVs, ovens, doorways, pavement…the list goes on.
They need adopters who can move slowly, be patient, keep expectations reasonable, and provide the understanding and tools they need to grow into happy, confident companions. Patience, positive reinforcement, and understanding are key!
