Story
Meet Pooh Bear, a 4-year-old Irish Doodle who weighs 59 pounds. He’s a playful, affectionate boy who lives life with enthusiasm—and a little extra spin. He’s a sweet soul who loves being close to his people and will happily soak up all the snuggles you’re willing to give. Pooh Bear is house-trained and has made great progress with his crate. While he’d still choose to be out with his people (or in bed with you) if given the option, his crate has become a safe and comfortable space for him. His foster family will often find him choosing to nap in there on his own, even with the door open. This boy has energy to spare and loves to stay active. He enjoys running around the house or yard, going for walks, and playing with other dogs. He’s also discovered a love for toys, especially squeaky ones. He’s still learning what to do with bones, balls, and games like fetch, but he’s having a great time figuring it all out. Pooh Bear is a goofy, curious boy who likes to be involved in whatever is going on around him. On leash, he’s known for spinning in happy circles and sometimes weaving himself around your legs in his excitement. He doesn’t always understand his size or personal space, so he may accidentally bump into you—or smaller children—when he gets especially excited. He is still working on his manners and basic commands, but he is very tolerant and easy to handle. He does well with grooming tasks like baths and is great about taking his medication. He allows handling of his face and paws without issue, making him an easy dog to care for in many ways. Pooh Bear is currently on seizure medication that he takes twice daily and will need to remain on a low-fat diet due to pancreatitis. He is doing well on this routine and will need a committed adopter who can continue to manage his care. He has not been exposed to children in his foster home, but with his friendly nature, he would likely do well with respectful children. A fenced yard would be ideal for him to safely burn off energy, though it is not required. Above all, Pooh Bear is a loving, devoted companion who just wants to be near his people. If you’re looking for a fun, affectionate dog who will keep you smiling and always close by your side, Pooh Bear may be the perfect match. His minimum adoption fee is $200 plus a $15 fee, if 4 months or older, for rabies registration for McLean County residents. He has been neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, heartworm checked, dewormed, and is on flea and heartworm preventatives.
