Story
We have a transport leaving in May 23rd 2026 from where we are located in Southern California to NorCal, OR, and surrounding states as needed for our adopting families where we bring our dogs all the way to their homes 💗 For peace of mind we never ask for anything up front. The adoption fee along with your share of travel costs will be due the day we arrive in person ultimately finalizing the adoption then and there with you. We would love to add Phoenix to our trip for the right family 😊
Born on 3/15/25 weighing in at 73 lbs Phoenix is a beautiful light golden Golden Retriever with a bright, joyful heart and the kind of spirit that reminds you why this breed is so deeply loved. She is young, curious, affectionate, and still very much in that wonderful stage of life where the world feels exciting and full of possibility. Phoenix is sweet, playful, adventurous, and ready to finally become the center of someone’s world in the way she has always deserved.
Phoenix’s story began in the same home as Maverick. Their original owner loved them, but he worked far too much and realized he could not give them the daily companionship, structure, and connection they needed. Maverick was in the home first, and Phoenix was later brought in to keep him company, with the hope that she could provide what their owner could not always be there to give.
Over time, he realized that another dog could not replace the time, attention, and love both of them needed from their person. His sister later stepped in and brought both dogs into her home so they could be around people more and not just each other. Unfortunately, while in her care, Phoenix went into heat and became pregnant. Her puppies all found homes prior to them ever contacting us, but this was never what their original owner wanted for her. He had been waiting for both dogs to reach full maturity before having them fixed and was trying to be responsible on his end. Sadly, that responsibility was not carried through while they were in his sister’s care.
Once their original owner realized what had happened, he contacted us and asked us to bring Maverick and Phoenix in so we could find them the very best home or homes possible — families who would love them fully, intentionally, and consistently.
While Phoenix and Maverick came from the same home and absolutely would make a beautiful pair for someone wanting two dogs, we are not requiring them to stay together. Phoenix has so much individual personality, heart, and promise, and she will be just fine starting her own path as the center of her family’s world.
Phoenix is house trained and very smart. She goes outside when asked throughout the day and is continuing to settle beautifully into routine and structure. She is still young, so she has that puppy-like curiosity and excitement about life, but she is also incredibly sweet, loving, and eager to be close to her people.
Phoenix has an immense love for water and has decided our pool is one of the greatest things life has to offer. She loves swimming, splashing, exploring, and being part of whatever fun is happening around her. She has an adventurous little soul and would thrive with a family who enjoys including their dog in life, whether that means backyard play, walks, car rides, water days, or simply cuddling close after a day of fun.
She is wonderful with other dogs and has been sweet with everyone she has met. With her loving, joyful temperament, we believe she would also do beautifully with children. She has that soft Golden heart paired with youthful enthusiasm, making her such a special girl for a family ready to love her, guide her, and enjoy all the happiness she brings.
Phoenix sleeps in a crate at night, though she could absolutely transition to sleeping beside her person if that is what her family prefers. She is adaptable, affectionate, and eager to belong. She is not a barker and has a lovely, go-with-the-flow nature.
She is learning to love car rides and is beginning to understand that the car means new adventures. She is also doing well on leash and continuing to gain confidence with each outing. Phoenix is great at bath time and loves being pampered, especially when water and cuddles are involved.
Phoenix is the kind of girl who brings light into a home. She is playful without being overwhelming, sweet without being shy, and adventurous while still deeply loving. She is ready for a family who will see her for the beautiful individual she is and give her the life, love, and consistency she has always deserved. 🩵
Her adoption fee is on our website at the bottom of her adoption listing at https://www.breadoflifek9refuge.org/post/phoenix
It covers her vaccines, microchip and registration, dental exam (her teeth were in great health,) her overall wellness exam (she is a very healthy girl,) and her spay. She was in heat during her spay so there was an in heat spay increase due to longer anesthesia time and her antibiotic injection given to aid in the healing of her spay especially being in heat. It also covers the months of care, grooming costs, and training we have provided for her here since with us.
Phoenix is fully vetted, has been thoroughly examined, and medically cleared by our veterinarian for adoption 💗
