Scout is a gentle 8-year-old Irish Doodle with a sweet soul. He's crate- and house-trained, and generally easygoing, though he may bark occasionally. Scout is not leash-trained and tends to pull hard on walks, so he'll do best with someone willing to work on that or with a secure yard to play in. He loves attention and being close to his people.

Animal Services has new operating hours! We will now be open Monday through Thursday from 7:30 am to 5:30 pm and closed Friday through Sunday. In addition to these hours, we will be available after-hours, including Fridays and Saturdays, by appointment. You can schedule an appointment with us by calling 817-616-3769 or emailing animalservices@richlandhills.com. Along with our new hours, all Wednesday adoptions are now by appointment only to allow our staff more time to prepare for Thursday vax-shacks and surgery days.Adoption fees for all animals are $125.00 (unless otherwise noted), which includes vaccinations, spay/neuter, microchip, and HW Test for dogs. CALL FOR DISCOUNTS AND SPECIALS. 817-616-3769We are always looking for volunteers and donations. If your church/school or any group wants to hold an adoption fair or fundraising event please give us a call for available dates.

Hi there… my name is Bruce, and I’m a new face here at Balch Springs Animal Services. I was found wandering the streets all by myself, scared and unsure. I had a collar, but no one ever came for me. For a while, I didn’t understand why.I’m a little shy when I first meet new people, but once I realize you won’t hurt me, my tail starts to wag and my heart opens right up. The staff here say I’m one of the sweetest boys they’ve met. I love other dogs, and I’m fully vetted and ready to find a home where I can finally feel safe and loved.I’ve heard people say that sometimes black dogs get overlooked in shelters. Maybe it’s because our shiny coats don’t always stand out in pictures. But I hope someone will look past my color and see me — a gentle soul who just wants to be loved. I promise I’ll be your loyal friend, your shadow, and your reason to smile every single day.All I need is a little patience, a kind heart, and a soft spot to call my own. Could that be with you?
