Story
Gary`s adoption price has been donated in full!Meet Gary, a one-year-old Retriever/Pit mix weighing 45 pounds. Gary is a big goofball with an even bigger heart! This enthusiastic boy is full of personality and is guaranteed to make you laugh with his legendary zoomies, silly antics, and favorite pastime—tossing his toys into the air and chasing after them. He loves to play and absolutely soaks up attention from his people. While Gary is eager to learn, he`s still figuring out the world around him. He doesn`t appear to have had much socialization, so new experiences can sometimes feel confusing or overwhelming. The good news? Gary truly wants to do the right thing and responds wonderfully to patient guidance, structure, and positive reinforcement. He enjoys working alongside his person and forms strong bonds with those who take the time to help him succeed.Gary is also still learning how to interact with other dogs. When meeting new canine friends, he can be a little unsure and defensive at first because he simply isn`t quite sure what to do. With slow introductions, reassurance, and patience, he settles in quickly and will likely enjoy having a dog companion. That said, he`d also be perfectly happy soaking up all the attention as your one and only pup.Because fast movements and unpredictable behavior can make him nervous, Gary would likely do best in a home without young children where he can continue building his confidence at his own pace.Gary is looking for an adopter who enjoys training, understands that learning takes time, and wants to build a true partnership with their dog. In return, you`ll get a loyal, affectionate companion who is eager to learn, loves to have fun, and will keep you smiling with his goofy personality every single day.If you`re ready to help a wonderful dog discover just how great life can be, Gary is ready to meet you. He has all the potential to become an incredible best friend—he`s just waiting for someone to believe in him. This pet is available for adoption on 1/31/2026 at 11:52 AM at the Yakima Humane Society adoption center. Story
Meet Teddy, a two-and-a-half-year-old Retriever/Boxer mix weighing 60 pounds. Teddy’s story starts with hardship, but it doesn’t define the dog he is today. He came to us through Animal Control after being surrendered by his owner, having lived in poor conditions with limited access to food and water. Despite everything he’s been through, Teddy has held onto a gentle, trusting heart. This sweet boy is lowkey and loving most of the time, happy to be by your side and soak up affection. He walks nicely on a leash, loves treats, and is eager to learn—he truly wants to please his people. Teddy has also shown that he is potty trained in a home environment. When he gets excited, Teddy can jump up, so a home without very young children would be the best fit. He would do best in a home without cats, as he does like to chase them. Teddy can do well with other dogs given a proper introduction.Teddy is ready for a fresh start with a family who will give him the stability, care, and love he’s always deserved. This pet is available for adoption on 5.1.26 at the Yakima Humane Society adoption center.
