Story
Meet Duchess 🐾 Duchess is a beautiful, elegant cat with a calm and observant nature. True to her name, she carries herself with quiet confidence and a gentle sense of independence. She enjoys peaceful environments where she can relax, watch the world around her, and choose affection on her own terms. When she does seek attention, it feels special and sincere. She would do best in a loving home that appreciates her refined personality—one that understands not all cats are overly demanding, but still deeply affectionate in their own way. Duchess thrives in a stable, low-stress environment and would make a wonderful companion for someone who values grace, patience, and a calm bond. She deserves a home where she can continue to be cherished, respected, and treated like the little queen she is.

Story
Meet Mouse, a striking lavender Oriental Shorthair and purebred, nearly 8-year-old neutered male with a big personality and an expressive voice. Mouse adores his humans and forms a strong one-on-one bond, following them from room to room and announcing his presence before settling nearby to supervise. He loves high places, cat trees, and perching where he can watch over his surroundings like the confident house prince he is. Mouse does best with a consistent routine and has specific preferences that should be respected. He requires a large litter box with high sides and uses clumping clay litter only, specifically Precious Cat/Dr. Elsey’s or Fresh Step. He is free-fed dry food and enjoys Dr. Elsey’s dry and Friskies dry, along with a small can of wet food twice daily. He prefers shreds and select pâtés, and mealtime is important to him. His water bowl must remain clean and full. Mouse must be the only cat in the household. When other cats are present, he develops behavioral issues, but he does very well as the sole feline in the home where he can feel secure and settled. To help with his transition, Mouse will come with his favorite blue feather wand toy and black crate mat or bed. His ideal home is calm and structured, with people who appreciate a vocal, affectionate companion who wants to be involved in daily life. If you're looking for a fabulously dramatic, affectionate, talkative companion who will bond deeply with his person and rule your home with charm, commentary, and loyal companionship, Mouse is ready to claim your heart and your couch. HE HAS TO BE THE ONLY CAT IN THE HOUSEHOLD.  He is tested, neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped. His birth date is 9/28/2017 and his adoption fee is $500.January 17, 2026, 4:28 am

Story
No appointments are necessary and you can come and see us any time we are open. Please go to our website (www.azfriends.org) to fill out a consultation form then come and see us! We do require any family interested in meeting our dogs or cats to fill out a consultation form – this form helps us determine if the dog/cat and the home are a good match, since it is so easy to fall in love with a photo, without knowing the personality of the dog. Once you have filled out the online Adoption Consultation Form, just come in and see us (or come and see us and fill out the consultation form upon arrival)! Please note that ALL dogs and cats are available to the first home that meets the dog or cat that we feel is a good match. In order to help make the best match, we do want all family members (dogs and humans) to meet any potential new family member. Our adoption center hours are: Closed Sunday/Monday; Tuesday 10a-2p, Wednesday 3p-7p, Thursday 3p-7p, Friday 10a-2p, Saturday 10a-4p. We are located at 952 W Melody Avenue in Gilbert (zip code 85233).All animals are altered, vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed, licensed (dogs). Cats tested for FELV/FIV. Dogs tested for Heartworm. All animals are available to the first family that is a good match, and if we have more than one animal who is a good match, there will be a lottery for all matches. Note that families must have come in to our adoption center and spoken with an adoption counselor prior to any lottery (when we have lotteries, they usually occur on Saturday mornings).
