Shelter FAQs

Tillamook K9 Rescue is the main provider to assist Law Enforcement with found dogs throughout Tillamook County. If Law Enforcement responds to an emergency where an owner may need to be taken to the hospital for treatment or possibly arrested, any dogs in residence will be delivered to the kennel for their safety and care. If a dog needs to be trapped we will work with the community and Law Enforcement to make sure that dog has a safe place to decompress while we search for their owner. We rely deeply on the help of our volunteers to care for the dogs, and our staff handles intake, adoptions and releases. We hold the animals for 7 days and if we aren't able to find the owners we then place them up for adoption. While a dog is in our care they receive 2 meals a day, any needed medical attention, and our volunteers come out to the rescue for multiple shifts throughout the day to ensure the dogs are socialized, exercised and loved.
