Welcome to Maine Coon Rescue! We are thrilled to have you consider our rescue in the search for your new family member!

                                 Information About Our Rescue

Maine Coon Rescue does not have a facility or adoption center. Our cats are cared for in foster homes throughout the United States.

We do not adopt outside of the lower 48 states.

Adopters may meet a cat after submitting an approved Adoption Application. You are responsible for traveling to the cat at an approved foster location.

We typically do not bring cats to a potential adopter’s home for meet-and-greets.

Not every cat is eligible for transport outside the area where they are being fostered.

A home visit or virtual video visit may be required.

We are an all-volunteer organization and strive to respond to all emails and inquiries as quickly as possible.

We are always happy to answer any questions you may have.

                                     Our Adoption Process
Step 1: View our available cats and decide what you are looking for in a new family member. The adoption application will ask which cat you are interested in applying for. We do not keep a waiting list for cats.

Step 2: Complete the online adoption application fully and accurately. All questions are essential to our screening process. Incomplete or missing information may delay processing or result in denial.

Once submitted, you will hear from our Adoption Coordinator or a Case Manager. Please check your spam folder if you do not see a response.

Step 3: You will receive a phone call from your Case Manager. If they are unable to reach you by phone, they may contact you by email and/or text message.

Step 4: Your Case Manager will conduct interviews with:
              - You
              - Your personal reference
              - Your landlord (if applicable)
              - Your listed veterinarian

After interviews are complete, your application will be reviewed and voted on by our rescue committee. You will be notified of the decision by your Case Manager via phone or email.

Step 5: If approved, you will be asked to submit:
               - The adoption agreement
               - Payment of the adoption fee

Once received, arrangements will be made between you and the foster to pick up your cat.

Please remember that we are an all-volunteer organization. While we strive to be professional and efficient, there may be times when we cannot return calls or emails immediately. We will respond as soon as possible.
