Rescue FAQs

We are a non-profit dog rescue located in Clarksville, TN. Our founder and namesake, Mikaela, began fostering dogs in 2016 while serving in the United States Army because she has a life-long love for dogs. Because of her effort and hard work, she received the Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal (1, 2). In May 2022, Mikaela decided the dogs often-overlooked, such as those with medical or behavioral conditions, needed special attention and Mikaela’s Mutt Motel was made official. Since our inception in 2022, we have taken in (and placed) over 250 Mutts. Because of our focus on behavioral and medical concerns, our biggest expense is the medical care we provide to each Mutt from heartworm testing and prevention to spay/neuter procedures. Additionally, we have undertaken heartworm treatments, TPLO surgeries, and ocular surgeries. If we did not have the continued support of our followers, then none of this would be possible.
