We rescue dogs from shelters in eastern South Carolina and take in strays and owner surrenders (as space allows) from our local communities. We welcome qualified adopters from both in and out of state and have placed dogs in homes from Maine to Florida and westward in states east of the Mississippi River. If adopters are unable to drive to our location to get their dog, we can discuss possible transport options with them.

Additional adoption info
We are a home and foster care-based rescue, with no shelter facility or employees. Because our rescue dogs live in private homes, we ask those interested in adopting from us to complete our application as the first step in our process and only set up an appointment to meet the dog(s) in which they are interested after they are approved to adopt. Use our online application or email info@savethestrays.org to request an application.

About Save the Strays Animal Rescue
Save the Strays Animal Rescue is an all-volunteer 501c3 public charity and no-kill humane organization founded in 2004. Our mission is to rescue and rehome unwanted and abandoned dogs and provide lifelong care for any that are not adopted.
All of our dogs receive age-appropriate vaccinations. Dogs six months and older are spayed or neutered and tested for heartworms before adoption. Some of the dogs we rescue and make available for adoption are older, have suffered injuries or have treatable medical conditions. These have included blind dogs, deaf dogs, dogs with amputations, congenital deformities, and limited mobility, and dogs with heart conditions, diabetes and other chronic disorders. We disclose all known health conditions to potential adopters.
Because we do not euthanize rescued dogs to make room for others, some of these dogs may be with us for a number of years or even for life. Your donations help us pay for the care they need to maintain their quality of life in a loving home environment.
