Rescue FAQs

Best Buddies is a dedicated group of volunteers and foster homes located in and around Pittsboro, NC with a shared vision of doing all that we can to find forever homes for homeless animals. We do not have a central shelter and no set visiting hours. If you are interested in one of our dogs or puppies, the first step is to complete an application at www.bbcra.org. Phone calls in advance of a completed application are returned as time allows. We promise each dog we take into foster care that we will provide the time, training, and environment they need to work through any medical or behavioral issues that they may have. We also promise our former foster dogs that if their adoptive families become unable to care for them, we will take them back into our care. We strongly encourage all adoptors to take their dogs/puppies to training classes shortly after adoption. We also encourage adopters to contact a professional dog trainer at the first sign of any possible behavioral challenges so that problems can be addressed before they are too big to handle. We can provide referral to a trainer in your area. Responsible pet ownership and mandatory spay/neuter are very important to BBCRA.

Additional adoption info

To apply to adopt a dog/puppy, please visit www.bbcra.org and click on the "Apply to Adopt" button. A volunteer will reply to your inquiry as soon as possible.

The adoption fee helps to off-set the services provided by BBCRA, which include spay/neuter, deworming, vaccinations, heartworm check and prevention, andflea/tick prevention/control.

BBCRA does not have a standard adoption fee for each pet. The fee requested is dependent on the amount of BBCRA resources that have been expended to care for the pet. Please inquire about the fee for each specific pet.

Our priority is to find great homes for the dogs in our care and secondarily to have funds to continue to accomplish our mission of helping the animals in our community find the forever homes that they deserve.
