Rescue FAQs

The Bullock County Humane Society Animal Shelter houses dogs and cats that come to us mostly as strays. We have 20 dog kennels and 6 cat cages. We are a rehab, rehome, low-kill shelter. We network with rescues, market our animals online, and conduct off-site adoption events to give our residents the greatest chances of finding loving homes. While the animals are with us, we focus on keeping them safe, healthy comfortable and enriched. All of our cats get daily communal play time and our dogs get individual or partner play time in large outdoor play yards every day for anywhere from 30 minutes to 6 hours at a time, weather dependent.
We serve the Union Springs AL area to include Montgomery, Eufala, Dothan, Troy and Auburn. We will attempt to get pets to great homes outside of our vicinity as donations and volunteers allow. If you see a pet that is perfect for you, do not let distance stop you from contacting us as we may be able to make it work.

Additional adoption info

All adoptions are approved on a case by case basis. The shelter manager reserves the right to deny anyone the right to adopt any of our animals. Adoption fees also vary from pet to pet based on factors such as age, health, breed and temperment. Cat fees range from $50 - $60 and dog fees range from $90 - $123. Occasionally we will have reduced adoption fees for a variety of reasons.
