Rescue FAQs

We are a group of animal loving friends that has joined together to fill a niche in the Tri-County area of Southern Maryland that is committed to giving "Second Hope" to hard to place animals (due to breed or age) that are searching for their forever homes. Collectively we have about 20 years of rescue experience, either with other rescues or by doing rescue on our own.

Additional adoption info

Adoptions only within 60 mile radius of the foster home*, home visits and veterinary references are required. The entire family must meet the animal before the adoption can continue.

Adoption fees must be paid at the time of adoption by cash, money order, or cashiers check made payable to Second Hope Rescue, Inc. If other arrangements for payment have not been agreed upon before the adoption, the adoption and the entire process will be cancelled if payment is not made.

Boarding fees – We are sorry, but due to the number of animals in foster care we are not able to hold an animal for you. If the adoption has been approved but you cannot take possession of the animal at that time, there will be a $10/day boarding charge.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
*Outside Area adoptions: If we consent to an adoption outside of the 60 mile radius (from our foster home), there is an additional non-refundable $50 donation (due to the continued climb of gas prices).
**Occasionally some adoption fees are higher if the animal has come into the group with special needs. We will inform you if that applies to the animal you are interested in. Even when this presents itself, the adoption fee rarely covers the vetting charges.
