Rescue FAQs

H.A.L.O. is the East Contra Costa County Homeless Animals' Lifeline Organization, better known as H.A.L.O. We are a nonprofit, all volunteer, 501c(3) charitable organization who assists dogs, cats and their owners in Eastern Contra Costa County. We rescue approximatly 500 animals a year, all by volunteers, all in our homes and in our hearts. We are not a shelter, We have grant funds for the spaying and neutering of East County ferals and food for them if needed. We have a program called "Angel Ears" where certified dogs and their trainers go to the local libraries and the children read to the dogs. This has proven a very effective way to increase reading skills rapidly. We also take the dogs to senior facilities. We are in need of volunteer in many capacities.
