Rescue FAQs

Canine Connections is a small group of dedicated volunteers who rescue dogs from shelters and dangerous situations. We provide for the needs of the dogs, including all vet care, vacinations, treatments for any pre-existing conditions, heartworm testing and preventative, etc. . Different volunteers in our program are dedicated to different breeds and levels of energy. Small dogs who have no drive are fostered in a home where there are no expectations. Larger and higher drive dogs are fostered in a home where they are taught skills in a sport that they show some ability in, as well as basic obedience training. No dog will ever leave our program without first being spayed or neutered (very small pups will either be spayed/neutered, or a contract agreeing to have the pup spayed/neutered must be signed). No dog will ever leave our program without first obtaining a clean bill of health from our vet. We vow to provide as much information to the new parents as possible to ensure a positive transition into a new family.

Additional adoption info

All potential adopters must agree to sign a contract which gives Canine Connections the right to: visit their home, to ensure suitablility of this dog to their family; agree to care for their new family member in a humane manner, ensuring they have adequate food, water, shelter and vet care, including heartworm, flea and tick prevention and vaccinations. All dogs MUST BE house dogs and must have a fenced yard to exercise in.
Most dogs in our program are high drive, suitable for flyball, agility, or discs. Adopters are strongly recommended that they get involved in a dog sport, to ensure that the high drive dog's needs are met. High drive dogs generally require daily physical and mental exercise, or they WILL find ways to entertain themselves.
Our adoption fees range from $200 to $350 depending on the dog, the amount of vet expenses incurred prior to the adoption, and the ability of the adopter to pay the asked fee.
