Rescue FAQs

We're glad you stopped by to check out our Mallies in need of their "furever" homes! We are federally recognized non-profit organization of volunteers dedicated to assisting Alaskan Malamutes and their owners when in crisis throughout the Intermountain West. Please be aware that Moonsong Malamute Rescue (MMR) is not a shelter or humane society. We are affiliated with the Alaskan Malamute Assistance League (AMAL), which is the national rescue organization recognized by the Alaskan Malamute Club of America. As an affiliate to AMAL, MMR operates under AMAL's code of ethics. We offer educational material about the Alaskan Malamute breed, can assist in resolving containment issues, are able to help an owner with appropriately re-homing their Malamute when necessary, and provide behavioral issues support in the form of referrals to trainers and other more experienced Malamute owners. These funds are also used to help care for Malamutes with adoptable personalities who have been pulled from shelters, or who have been seized by authorities after having been abandoned, neglected, or abused.
Primarily assist in Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, Northern Nevada, and Utah.
