Rescue FAQs

CatNAP was formed in 1998 by a small local group of caring volunteers who wanted to make a difference for the abandoned and homeless cats in Nanaimo. Our mandate is to rescue abandoned cats and kittens, provide medical attention where necessary, have them spayed or neutered and find them homes. Every year we find adoptive homes for about 100 cats and dozens of feral cats are captured, spayed or neutered and released back to their original location where they are provided with shelter and food on a daily basis. We could not do this without help from the public. You can help support CatNAP by: - A financial donation to help offset medical bills - DONATIONS ARE TAX DEDUCTIBLE. - Food, kitty litter, scratching posts, beds, toys. - Rural or farm homes for feral cats. These cats have been spayed/neutered and are free to good homes that will feed, shelter and care for them. - Volunteering at the adoption centre - cuddling and playing with cats, providing information to potential foster homes, feeding, keeping the area clean. - Providing a temporary foster home for rescued cats until they are transferred to the adoption centre. This could be anything from a day or two up to a few weeks. All cats must be healthy, vaccinated and spayed/neutered before they are transferred. - Permanently adopting one of our needy, furry friends.
