Areas Animal Rescue Foundation serves

ARF rescues adoptable animals from the Tulsa OK area kill shelters. We then place them in foster homes until they are adopted to approved permanent homes. We are not a shelter. Our pets are in foster homes or boarded at a vet clinic.

Additional adoption info

ARF does not ship our pets. If you are interested in adopting a pet you can visit our website http://arftulsa.org/adopt where you will find our online application. If your application is approved, you will then need to come to Tulsa to meet the pet and make sure it is right for your family.

WE DO NOT ADOPT BABY PUPPIES/KITTENS (under the age of 6mo) OUT OF THE TULSA AREA as they are not spayed/neutered or finished with all of their vaccinations until 4-6mo of age. If you are not in the IMMEDIATE Tulsa area (or a town that touches Tulsa) please do not apply for a puppy or kitten, and please do not ask us to make an exception to this rule, ...WE WON'T..
We do not adopt any adult pets outside of the Tulsa area without an excellent vet reference for past or current pets.
Adoption fee is $150 for most dogs (if the fee is different it will be listed on their profile page - some "specialty" dogs may be more), $75 for cats and covers spay/neuter, microchip, heartworm test or FIV/Feluk test, fecal worm test, current vaccinations and an ID tag. You will also have to purchase 6 months of heartworm preventative for the dog at the time of adoption.

Adopt a Pet is the easiest way for you to search for a new pet in Tulsa, OK.

Support adoption and rescue. Why go to a dog breeder, cat breeder or pet store to buy a dog or buy a cat when you can adopt?

Why should you adopt?

Dog adoption and cat adoption saves lives. Adopt a dog or adopt a cat and you'll have a friend for life.

What is the difference between adopting a dog, adopting a cat, adopting a kitten or adopting a puppy versus getting dogs for sale, cats for sale, puppies for sale or kittens for sale from a dog breeder or a cat breeder?

When someone is breeding puppies or breeding kittens, they are creating new dogs and cats who need homes. Some people are interested in a very specific breed of dog, cat, puppy or kitten and they think the only way to find that specific breed is to buy a dog for sale or buy a cat for sale from a puppy breeder or a kitten breeder. Yet animal shelters are filled with dogs and cats who must find homes.

So rather than buying a dog or puppy for sale from a dog breeder or buying a cat or kitten for sale from a cat breeder, we encourage people to adopt a dog, adopt a cat, adopt a puppy or adopt a kitten at their local animal shelter, SPCA, humane society or pet rescue group.
