Rescue FAQs

We are an animal rights group who rescues animals primarily from high kill shelters and sanctuaries unadoptable, feral and senior dogs and cats. Although we make every attempt to assist independent animal rescuers, we are rarely able to take in owner relinquished animals. However, we do offer courtesy listings online for the public for a nominal fee of $50.00 and will screen the applicants for you. Alternatively, we charge a $50.00 deposit which we return in full when we adopt out your animal through us. With the latter option, we keep the adoption fee.

Some of our adoption fees for dogs are higher than others. Our prices for cats have not been raised in eight years, but our fees for some of our dogs have increased substantially. Although we are an all volunteer organization, the cost of providing for the medical needs of our pets and sanctuarying unadoptable ones for their lifetimes is raised nearly exclusively from our adoption fees. As a strictly no-kill organization, we do take care of animals that the public finds "unadoptable" because of their senior ages, temperaments or special health issues such as blindness, deafness, or other maladies. In other words, the most adoptable of our pets fund the least. Our actual cost for each animal with us averages out to around $3,500.00 per animal. That is the true cost of being a genuine no-kill organization. But we think the animals are worth worth every cent.

We serve the Bay Area and Sacramento County primarily. We still target the Bay Area, where we originated, for foster and perament homes.

Additional adoption info

All potential adopters should email us at animalsaverscal@gmail.com for an application. We try to answer emails within 3 days and respond to applications within 3 - 5 days. Once your application is approved, we we will set up an appointment for you to meet and hopefully adopt our darling foster pet(s.)
