Areas A Better Life Animal Rescue, Inc. serves

We service Burke County, NC, and the immediate surrounding counties. All our animals are up-to-date on vaccinations, health needs, and spayed or neutered unless they are in the puppy/kitten stage. At that point, we require certification from the potential adopter that he or she will spay/neuter when animal is old enough - a deposit and follow up visit is required. We do not adopt "on the spot" and all potential adopters must go through a rigorous screening so that our placements are a win/win situation for both animal and new family. We strive to make the best match possible for pets and families.

Additional adoption info

Please view our animals and feel free to e-mail us with questions! We try and place our animals with families who would be a good mesh so that both the animal and the family will have a wonderful experience. You can visit our website to complete an application and e-fax it to us or mail it or e-mail it back. We will check references and set up a home visit once the animal is identified. The adoption fee is $100 - seniors always receive a 25% reduction in adoption fee as does a veteran or military person. Both discounts may be combined. If we deliver the animal to adopter and adopter is more than 60 miles away, we ask that transportation in the way of gasoline costs please be reimbursed to us (receipts will be provided). It is not mandatory but will help us defray costs of transport.

About A Better Life Animal Rescue, Inc.

A Better Life Animal Rescue, Inc. is a no-kill foster home-based rescue organization located in Burke County, North Carolina. We do not operate an animal shelter. We rely on volunteer foster families to provide temporary care for rescued dogs and cats until they can either be matched with loving, responsible, permanent adoptive families or until lost pets can be reunited with their own loving families. Our mission is to reduce pet overpopulation and to save dogs and cats whose lives are in jeopardy because of neglect, mistreatment, illness, injury or ignorance. We do this by reporting animal neglect, abuse, mistreatment or cruelty to proper authorities; rescuing pets that are living under unhealthy or unsafe conditions or are being held by activities that kill animals considered to be unadoptable; providing dedicated, loving, temporary foster care for rescued animals; arranging for professional veterninary care for sick or injured animals and for spay/neuter procedures; matching rescued pets with suitable adoptive families; promoting a 100% spay/neuter program; and sponsoring educational programs that focus on animal overpopulation and proper care for pets. Please check our pages for stories and events. And of course, please check all our animals that need homes.

Adopt a Pet is the easiest way for you to search for a new pet in Morganton, NC.

Support adoption and rescue. Why go to a dog breeder, cat breeder or pet store to buy a dog or buy a cat when you can adopt?

Why should you adopt?

Dog adoption and cat adoption saves lives. Adopt a dog or adopt a cat and you'll have a friend for life.

What is the difference between adopting a dog, adopting a cat, adopting a kitten or adopting a puppy versus getting dogs for sale, cats for sale, puppies for sale or kittens for sale from a dog breeder or a cat breeder?

When someone is breeding puppies or breeding kittens, they are creating new dogs and cats who need homes. Some people are interested in a very specific breed of dog, cat, puppy or kitten and they think the only way to find that specific breed is to buy a dog for sale or buy a cat for sale from a puppy breeder or a kitten breeder. Yet animal shelters are filled with dogs and cats who must find homes.

So rather than buying a dog or puppy for sale from a dog breeder or buying a cat or kitten for sale from a cat breeder, we encourage people to adopt a dog, adopt a cat, adopt a puppy or adopt a kitten at their local animal shelter, SPCA, humane society or pet rescue group.
