Rescue FAQs

Rocky Bottom Ranch Rescue is operated by family, friends, and volunteers. We rescue Cane Corso Dogs, Corso mixed dogs, and all breeds of horses. Our love of the animals is the heart of our ranch. In addition to regular full-time jobs, our days are consumed by rescue operations, rehabilitations, finding loving new homes for our animals, continued learning, and educating others. We are pursuing our 501(c)(3) status, but for now donations are not tax deductable. We are only able to help these animals because of generous donations from people like you. Please consider adopting one of our animals, or if you aren’t looking to add a new addition to your family, check into our sponsorship programs, or consider making a donation.
We are an Arizona non-profit organization, located in Tonopah, AZ, which is approximately 50 miles west of Phoenix. If we are able, we will rescue an animal in need, from anywhere in the United States. We adopt mainly to residents of Arizona; however, we will adopt out of state as well. Out-of-state adoptions do have higher donation requirements to cover the travel costs associated with these adoptions.

Additional adoption info

If you are interested in adopting one of our animals, you will need to start by contacting us, so we know which dog/horse you are interested in. We will send you an adoption application. After you complete and return the application, we will review your application, check your references, and determine if the animal you are interested in is a good match for you. If the application and match are good, we will set up a home visit. If you have any other animals, it is during this time that your pets will make the final decision. If the home inspection and meet-n-greet go good, there is an adoption contract and adoption donation. The amount of the required donation varies by age, breed, and training. For dogs it is between $100 and $500. For horses it is between $500 and $2000. Before placing our animals in new homes, they all receive a vet check, all vaccinations (age appropriate), worming if necessary, & will be micro-chipped. Dogs/puppies will be spayed / neutered, licensed with the county, & will be heart-worm tested. Any stallions will be gelded.
