MidAtlantic Pug Rescue

We at Mid-Atlantic Pug Rescue, Inc. are a group of diverse individuals who have united for the purpose of rescuing Pugs. We come from many walks of life, and have agreed to donate our many and varied talents so that pugs everywhere can live out their lives with comfort, love and care.

We are all volunteers, with no paid employees. Each person serves in the way best suited to their lifestyle and individual skills.

We are proud of the way we have built this organization. We have determined that our common welfare and the welfare of the pug breed must come first. Our leaders are but trusted servants, in that they do not govern. There is no power structure, just a service structure.

The only requirement for membership is a desire to help homeless pugs and promote education about the breed and the need for domestic animal population control.

We allow, and strongly encourage participation in other groups, rescues, and shelters, as it is the best way to strengthen the rescue effort and make sure that our motto is upheld: "Let no pug go unloved."

Mid-Atlantic Pug Rescue, Inc is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization, dedicated to providing for the short and long term needs of abandoned or surrendered pugs. We give rescued pugs veterinary care, a nurturing foster environment, and permanent placement into a loving home. In addition, we offer education to the public on the special responsibilities of pug ownership and the need for domestic animal population control.

Additional adoption info

Thank you for your interest in adopting a rescued pug!! By thoroughly completing this adoption application, you can help us to ensure that all of our pugs will be placed in homes that are best suited to their individual needs. Please note that our pugs are NOT placed first-come-first-serve. Rather, while they are in foster care, their personalities are assessed, and they are matched up with a forever home based on what the home is looking for in a pug and what the pug needs.

Please keep in mind, there is absolutely no guarantee made or implied that any person requesting to adopt a dog being fostered through MAPR, or posted on MAPR’s Website, will be allowed to adopt a MAPR dog. MAPR reserves the right to make all decisions regarding placement or final disposition of any rescued dog in its care.

Before you complete this application, please consider the following:

Our adoption fees are as follows:

Dogs age 0-12 months – $400
Dogs age 1-2 yrs – $350
Dogs age 3-6 yrs – $300
Dogs age 7-10 yrs – $250
Dogs over 10 yrs – $100
All pugs will be current on vaccines, spayed/neutered, and treated for any known medical issues.

What does my adoption fee cover? Your adoption fee goes towards such things as: veterinary treatment for rescued pugs (including spaying or neutering), medicines, food and supplies while they are in foster care. We have no paid staff – all adoption fees and donations go directly towards funding our mission of providing for pugs in need.

What can I expect after I apply? Please undersand that our organization is staffed completely by hard-working volunteers. The processing of your application may take longer based on the number of applications being received and incomplete applications will not be considered. Your application will be used to determine whether the we contact you to begin the approval process, which includes telephone interviews, reference checks and a home visit. Not all applicants will be contacted. If you are found to be a potential match based on your application, a representative will contact you for a phone interview. The references you provide on this application will then be contacted and a home visit will be arranged. PLEASE realize that several homes are interviewed for each pug in order to ensure the best possible match.

While we welcome you to apply for a specific pug, we cannot guarantee that your application will be considered for that pug. Important note: If you are only interested in adopting a puppy (0-6 months), please indicate that on your application. Please understand that we rarely have puppies available for adoption. Consequently, we may defer the processing of your application.

If I am approved for an adoption, how will I get my pug? All applicants are required to arrange transportation to adopt their pug. We have contacts across several states, and will do our best to facilitate getting your new family member to you but ultimately, it is your responsibility. We do not ship pugs.

What if I live outside of North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, Maryland, West Virginia or Eastern Tennessee? Due to limited resources, we concentrate our adoptions in the Mid-Atlantic region. Applications outside of our immediate service area will be considered on a case by case basis as resources allow. Alternatively, if you are outside the Mid-Atlantic Pug Rescue service area, please visit http://www.pugrescue.com/ and find a local pug rescue group closer to your home.

SAMPLE ADOPTION CONTRACT YOU WILL BE ASKED TO SIGN AT TIME OF ADOPTION.

IMPORTANT:

PERSONAL REFERENCES MUST BE NON FAMILY MEMBERS AND IF YOU DO NOT CURRENTLY HAVE A VET, MAPR REQUIRES A THIRD, NON FAMILY MEMBER, PERSONAL REFERENCE IN ITS
PLACE. FAILURE TO SUPPLY WILL RESULT IN DELAY OF PROCESSING YOUR APPLICATION.
