Rescue FAQs

Three Rivers Rescue is an all-volunteer network of foster homes that rescues and adopts puppies and dogs, cats and kittens. Some of the dogs we offer for adoption have been strays or owner-release, while others have been rescued from shelters. But before being accepted into our program, the temperament and personality of each individual dog is first assessed. It is mandatory that every dog be sound and predictable with other dogs, cats, and people of all ages, particularly children. We do not rescue or adopt dogs that are aggressive in any way. We take pride in the fact that our dogs are not contained in cement runs, or held behind cyclone fences, but rather they live in the comfort and security of private foster homes. While in these homes the dogs generally have free-roaming privileges in the house, and they are often welcome to sleep on the beds at night with their foster care providers. Being able to live in these family-friendly conditions allows a dog to display its real personality, and it's an ideal way to help prepare the animal for its eventual adoption into its new, permanent home. At Three Rivers Rescue we'd like to think we are offering the public those dogs that are the "cream of the crop," sound, well socialized dogs that we believe will make wonderful, life-time companions for families and individuals. The time and effort we expend on each dog prior to adoption is considerable, but the animal and its new owner deserve nothing less. This is simply responsible stewardship that we believe should be the goal of everyone in the animal rescue community. Three Rivers Rescue is permitted by King County Animal Control (we hold a Private Animal Placement Permit). This simply means that our homes have been inspected by this agency, and that we are in compliance with the standards outlined in King County Code
