Shelter FAQs

We perform many various tasks on a daily basis including: care and shelter for impounded animals, canine and feline adoptions, the capture of stray and running at large animals and livestock, welfare checks and calls for service regarding animals within town limits, and assisting and educating the members of the community to create a stable and safe environment for animals and humans alike. A large part of what we do is placing animals if forever homes. We have outside adoptions at businesses around town and participate in adoption events. Our main event is Woofstock Pet Expo & Adoption Festival. The date for our 2018 event is September 22, 2018 at the Edgewood Soccer Field.
Our mission is to provide the highest quality of service, care, and information to protect both the animals and citizens of the community. We serve the Town of Edgewood and those that reside within the Town limits. However, we adopt to those outside of the Town.

Additional adoption info

Adopting from Edgewood Animal Shelter is a very simple process. We are a first come, first served basis, unless otherwise noted. If you see an animal on Adopt a Pet, our Facebook Page, or other websites that are available for adoption and you are interested in making a forever companion, contact us. Come by our shelter during business hours. A meet and greet with the animal is available at our location. Once you have chosen an animal from our location, and compatibility as been determined, we require the completion of an adoption contract with your individual information and the entire pet's information appearing on it. You will be required to pay a designated fee as established with our Edgewood town and shelter Ordinance 2018-06 Exhibit A, "Schedule of Fees". Standardly, our adoption fee includes a one-year rabies vaccination, sterilization (as required by law), and a coupon given to you for a "wellness check" at one of our local veterinarians. Some exceptions are made in cases where, due to age limitations for the sterilization and rabies shot process. In this event, a sterilization fee will be charged at the adoption, until proof of shots and sterilization can be verified at an assigned date, where required. Microchipping is available for any animal for $15.00.
