Shelter FAQs

The North Texas Animal Control Authority is operated as a private sole-proprietorship company. We do this so decision making is done at the simplest level. We are an animal services contractor, providing small municipal entities up to large counties with full time animal control. Most animals in our shelter have been found as stray animals or surrendered by their prior owners for a variety of reasons.
The North Texas Animal Control Authority is a privately owned and operated shelter serving the entire North Texas region. We can accept any pet from anywhere. However we do not accept stray or found animals unless we have a contract for the city or county where the animal was originally found. We are not a no-kill facility.

Adoption steps

  1. Visit the Facility and Find a Pet
Call for an appointment to come meet pets in our facility.
  2. Sign Adoption Contract
Our process is very simple. We have a one page adoption contract you fill out when you choose a pet to adopt.
  3. Pay Fee
Our adoption fee is $40.00 for any animal unless otherwise noted.
  4. Take the Pet Home
The pet can go home with you on the same day! We may be able to help with some supplies also.

Additional adoption info

Adopters must sign an adoption contract requiring the spay or neuter of the animal being adopted, if not done so already. Our common adoption fee is only $40.00. We have no veterinary services available and cannot guarantee the health or temperament of an animal available for adoption. We do not have a pre-application or inspection requirement. The shelter is not open to the public and you must make an appointment to view pets available for adoption.
