Additional adoption info

Here is how our 3-step adoption process works:

We ask you to fill out an application which is step one in our 3-step adoption program, called "Trial Week." (Step one)

Once we have received and reviewed your application, we will arrange a "Meet & Greet" with you and the pet. (Step two)

If this goes well with everybody involved, you get to take the pet home for a week (or longer if needed) and get to know each other better.

After this trial period, you can make the decision if you want to make the pet a part of your family. (Step 3)

Our adoption fee is $200 for dogs and $150 for cats and includes spay/neuter and all age-appropriate tests, vaccinations, and microchipping.

The Underdogs Rescue is an all-volunteer, non-profit animal welfare organization dedicated to the rescue and placement of stray, neglected, and/or abused animals. The Underdogs Rescue is completely funded through fundraising efforts and public donations. All of our pets are cared for by foster homes and receive complete medical care, which includes deworming, vaccinations, spaying/neutering, and microchipping prior to their adoption.

This questionnaire is designed to help The Underdogs Rescue, and yourself determine if a specific dog is the right one for you and your household. All adopting parties are required to complete this form prior to adoption. The Underdogs Rescue reserves the right to deny any adoption based on answers to this questionnaire and/or interviews prior to adoptions.

About The Underdogs Rescue Inc.

Who We Are

The Underdogs are passionate individuals dedicated to rescuing and rehoming Oklahoma's unwanted animals since 2013. As our name suggests, we have a special place in our hearts for the "underdogs" of society. Often overlooked in shelters because of old age, breed, behavior, or medical conditions, these animals need a chance to show their true nature. We believe every animal deserves a chance to find love and happiness, regardless of their background.

We are entirely foster-based, meaning compassionate volunteers take animals in need into their homes. Here, they learn what being part of a family means. Once fully recovered, rehabilitated, and vetted, they are ready to find their happily ever after.

Advocacy and education are cornerstones of our mission. We believe that the best way to reduce the number of homeless animals is to prevent them from entering shelters in the first place. We offer educational programs and resources to the community, focusing on responsible pet ownership and the importance of spaying and neutering.

Our Mission:

Rescue and rehabilitate animals in need: We provide a safe place for abandoned, abused, and neglected animals.
Find loving forever homes: We carefully match animals with compatible families, ensuring a successful transition into their new lives.
Promote responsible pet ownership: We educate the community on the importance of spaying and neutering and provide resources to help pet owners care for their animals properly.
Advocate for animal welfare: We strive to improve the lives of animals by working with shelters, legislators, and other organizations.

Our Reach:

In 2022, we expanded our reach by establishing our sister organization, The Underdogs of Maine. It allows us to transport rescued animals to Maine and other New England states, increasing their chances of adoption.

The Underdogs Rescue understands the lifelong commitment that comes with adopting a pet. We are committed to finding the perfect match for your family and will support you every step of the way. When you adopt an Underdog, you are not only giving a homeless pet a new life, but you are also becoming part of our extended family.

We rely solely on private donations to continue our vital work. Every dollar we receive goes directly towards the care and support of our rescued animals. You can help us give a homeless pet a second chance by:

Adopting: Open your home and heart to a deserving animal.
Fostering: Provide temporary care and love for an animal in need.
Volunteering: Donate your time and skills to help us care for our rescued animals.
Donating: Make a financial contribution to support our mission.
Together, we can make a difference in the lives of animals.

Can we rescue and help them all? No. But if we can help some of them, it makes a difference for the ones who cross our paths.

Please join us in our mission to create a brighter future for animals in need.

The Underdogs are a registered non-profit. All donations are tax-deductible.

The Underdogs Rescue Inc.'s adopted pets

Adopt a Pet is the easiest way for you to search for a new pet in Yukon, OK.

Support adoption and rescue. Why go to a dog breeder, cat breeder or pet store to buy a dog or buy a cat when you can adopt?

Why should you adopt?

Dog adoption and cat adoption saves lives. Adopt a dog or adopt a cat and you'll have a friend for life.

What is the difference between adopting a dog, adopting a cat, adopting a kitten or adopting a puppy versus getting dogs for sale, cats for sale, puppies for sale or kittens for sale from a dog breeder or a cat breeder?

When someone is breeding puppies or breeding kittens, they are creating new dogs and cats who need homes. Some people are interested in a very specific breed of dog, cat, puppy or kitten and they think the only way to find that specific breed is to buy a dog for sale or buy a cat for sale from a puppy breeder or a kitten breeder. Yet animal shelters are filled with dogs and cats who must find homes.

So rather than buying a dog or puppy for sale from a dog breeder or buying a cat or kitten for sale from a cat breeder, we encourage people to adopt a dog, adopt a cat, adopt a puppy or adopt a kitten at their local animal shelter, SPCA, humane society or pet rescue group.
