WeHelpAnimals.Net's adoption process

Additional adoption info

Wehelpanimals.net has established an adoption process that includes the following----an intensive application is completed that list 2 personal references and a recent vet reference. We also like to have a groomer reference. An intensive phone interview is conducted with the applicant. We reserve the right to do a home visit or request pics of the yard or inside where the pet will be. We meet with the applicant in person once references are checked and observe interaction with the rescue. Once an applicant is approved, an adoption contract is signed that outlines expectations on how the pet will be cared for and states that the pet will come back to wehelpanimals.net if they can longer provide proper care. Once the rescue goes to its new home, there is a 2 week trial period with several communications between the new pet owner and wehelpanimals.net. If the rescue comes back to us during this time period, the adoption fee is refunded. After the trial period, we will always take our rescues back but there will be no refund. We request that pics and stories be shared with us during the pet's life.

Adoption fees are usually $250, but we reserve the right to adjust the fee from $100 to $400 depending on the rescue. The adoption fee includes---spay or neuter, vaccines, de-worming if necessary, hw test, micro-chip, and hw/flea prevention. Other vetting will be done if necessary--- such as treating for heartworms, etc. The adoption fee is not based on the vetting that is done but usually on the age of the rescue or if special needs of the rescue.

Support adoption and rescue. Why go to a dog breeder, cat breeder or pet store to buy a dog or buy a cat when you can adopt?

Why should you adopt?

Dog adoption and cat adoption saves lives. Adopt a dog or adopt a cat and you'll have a friend for life.

What is the difference between adopting a dog, adopting a cat, adopting a kitten or adopting a puppy versus getting dogs for sale, cats for sale, puppies for sale or kittens for sale from a dog breeder or a cat breeder?

When someone is breeding puppies or breeding kittens, they are creating new dogs and cats who need homes. Some people are interested in a very specific breed of dog, cat, puppy or kitten and they think the only way to find that specific breed is to buy a dog for sale or buy a cat for sale from a puppy breeder or a kitten breeder. Yet animal shelters are filled with dogs and cats who must find homes.

So rather than buying a dog or puppy for sale from a dog breeder or buying a cat or kitten for sale from a cat breeder, we encourage people to adopt a dog, adopt a cat, adopt a puppy or adopt a kitten at their local animal shelter, SPCA, humane society or pet rescue group.
