Additional adoption info

When you see a pet that interests you, you must complete an over the phone adoption application before we schedule a visit. Once that is complete and you are approved for adoption, a meet and greet for the pet will be scheduled. When you have decided to adopt a pet, an adoption contract will be complete along with other paper work regarding spay/neuter if applicable and health information. We are available 7 days a week by appointment for adoptions. There is an adoption fee for each pet. The amount of the fee varies and is clearly stated in the description for that pet. The adoption fees are in place to partially reimburse for the care, feeding, housing and medical care for all the animals in my care. Thank you for Choosing Rescue.

About Sunnies ARK

I have been doing animal rescue all of my life. In 1983 I received my diploma from Wayne County Community College and became a licensed Veterinary technician. I no longer practice under that license but use the knowledge I gained for the care of the animals.
For Almost 2 years I had done foster care for a local dog and puppy rescue. In September of 2014 I had the opportunity to start my own rescue and to change this part time passion into a full time mission. I launched Sunnies ARK, Animal Rescue Kennel. I know there are many reasons animals end up needing to be rehomed. I don't judge, I just try to do what is best for the animal involved. I do mainly special needs rescue and those animals are in my Sunnies Sanctuary meaning they are not available for adoption. My main adoption focus is on puppy and dog placement but I have worked with just about any other animal.
We are always looking for volunteers to help with the care of the animals and donations of pet supplies, nylabones and puppy pads are always needed and dog food, especially high quality grain free food And fencing.

Support adoption and rescue. Why go to a dog breeder, cat breeder or pet store to buy a dog or buy a cat when you can adopt?

Why should you adopt?

Dog adoption and cat adoption saves lives. Adopt a dog or adopt a cat and you'll have a friend for life.

What is the difference between adopting a dog, adopting a cat, adopting a kitten or adopting a puppy versus getting dogs for sale, cats for sale, puppies for sale or kittens for sale from a dog breeder or a cat breeder?

When someone is breeding puppies or breeding kittens, they are creating new dogs and cats who need homes. Some people are interested in a very specific breed of dog, cat, puppy or kitten and they think the only way to find that specific breed is to buy a dog for sale or buy a cat for sale from a puppy breeder or a kitten breeder. Yet animal shelters are filled with dogs and cats who must find homes.

So rather than buying a dog or puppy for sale from a dog breeder or buying a cat or kitten for sale from a cat breeder, we encourage people to adopt a dog, adopt a cat, adopt a puppy or adopt a kitten at their local animal shelter, SPCA, humane society or pet rescue group.
