Rescue FAQs

Louie’s Legacy Animal Rescue, Inc., non-profit and no kill, aims to alleviate the suffering of abandoned shelter animals by rescuing, rehabilitating and rehoming them within our community. We are proudly foster-based, meaning our animals live in homes, not shelters. This differentiates us and allows us to more thoroughly get to know our animals, ensuring they are matched with suitable, screened adoptive homes which meet our high standards. As part of our commitment to the health and well-being of all of our animals and to reduce pet overpopulation in our community, every pet is spayed or neutered prior to adoption. We are committed to ensuring the safety of our animals for their entire lifetimes so that they will never suffer abuse, neglect or abandonment again.
Our dogs are fostered in homes across Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky. We ask adopters to be within driving distance of Cincinnati and to adopt their pet at any one of our several event locations each weekend.

Additional adoption info

Our adoption application is located at www.louieslegacy.org/adopt
Each animal is treated for any illness found upon arrival, spayed/neutered, microchipped, dewormed, heartworm negative and current on prevention, up to date on vaccines for their age including combo vaccine, bordetella, and rabies, as well as on flea prevention. The adoption fee covers this care, and any excess goes toward the care of the other animals in rescue.
