Shelter FAQs

Animal Refugee Response is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to urban animals in need. Our mission is to actively and compassionately respond to animals in dire and unfortunate circumstances with the underlying conviction that all life is a precious gift. We are strictly a "No-Kill" organization.

Additional adoption info

Animal Refugee Response is looking loving and permanent homes for the animals in our care. We are looking for adopters who understand that adopting a dog or cat is much like adopting a child. It is a commitment. It is forever.

Potential adopters are asked to come in person to meet the animal(s) they are interested in, to insure a good fit.

If you rent your home we will need to see written proof that your landlord allows animals.

All potential adopters are required to complete a questionnaire, and if approved, an adoption contract.

The adoption fee for any dog (of any size and any age) is $300. The adoption fee for any cat $150. These fees include the animal, spay/neuter (if old enough), up-to-date vaccinations, de-fleaing and initial deworming.

We will provide the adopter with the health records we have for the animal.

We do not provide refunds. We highly discourage "trying out" animals. They are not like a pair of shoes to be bought and returned. They have hearts and feelings. We want adopters to be SURE they want to adopt the animal they choose, and are committed to make it work.
