Additional adoption info
RCAS adoption fee is $80 if the animal comes in unaltered. The fee covers their first set of vaccines, deworming, micro chip, rabies if over 4 months, and spay/neuter. If the vet is not able to get them altered due to being too young (under 4 months) or due to the huge intake of animals you will receive a voucher worth $70. All vets in Rowan County will take them and several of the other vets in NC
If the animal comes in already altered, the adoption fee is only $15 to cover their vaccines, rabies, and micro chip.
These animals can be Euthanized if not adopted on their last day. The shelter does try to give them 1-2 days extension as long as they have room. During the summer, the numbers are extremely high so they do run out of kennel space very quickly. Dogs are usually giving 14 days before euthanized. Cats are giving 10 days unless they are sick being treated by the vet. Then, they only get 7 days and only available to 501c3 rescues. YES, we do post their last days because we think it’s important that people know. Animals are euthanized and we, as a community, need to see the realization.
