Rescue FAQs

My name is Shan and I am the founder of Luna Siberian Rescue . I grew up with a love of animals. I was the kid rescuing baby ground squirrels when I was 10 and feeding them with a dropper every 3 hours through the the night. I rescued baby birds, took care of endangered desert tortoises, and reacued many stray cats. My first dog was Snowy, a white German Shepard. she was awesome . The rest of my life story from then on , had a dog in it ! I alway knew that my dream would be to have a rescue someday. What I didn't know was how that would be defined. I love all animals, and I never dreamed of rescuing huskies ! Then I was in PetSmart one day , and there was my Luna, a skinny, sad but goofy and sweet husky girl. The rest is history. She became the inspiration for my rescue. I fell madly in love with my Luna ,and the breed itself. I love huskies, malamutes , and mixes of both . They are sweet and special. They are not for everyone , but for those who they "are", they are magnificent. I am living my dream, and think I’m the luckiest girl in the world to be able to help saves these precious fur-kids lives.
Luna Siberian Rescue is a small foster based rescue in Southern Ca . We rescue Siberian huskies and mixes from Southern California shelters who are at risk of euthanasia . Hundreds of highly adoptable dogs lose their lives every day in California shelters. Many factors come in to play , a major factor being - "shelter overcrowding". Many dogs are euthanized within 4 days of their entrance in to the shelter system for space. An easily treatable medical condition or injury, a dog who is extremely shy or frightened in the shelter environment , do not fare well . Many Siberian Huskies do not do well in cages and get stressed very easily . These are just a few of the reasons some fabulous furries get overlooked . Once a dog enters our rescue he/she goes into a foster home where we can get to know that dog better which allows us to match the dog up with the right family. Occasionally we do use kennels for short-term boarding All the dogs are given a medical check-up, vaccinated, neutered and microchipped, and most importantly love while they await their forever families. We are always desperate for FOSTER FAMILIES . They are the difference between life and death for some these shelter animals . If you would be interested in finding out more about foster a pet , please fill out the online application and we will contact you to discuss any questions you may have. Additional adoption info

The adoption process:
An adoption application needs to be filled out so we know a little more about you and your home. This helps us match the right dog up with the right family. If it looks like a good match we will set up a time where the family can meet the dog and spend time together. It is required that all members of the household and their current dogs (if any) be present during the meet and greet. If things go well and the family decides to adopt, Luna Siberian Rescue will deliver the dog to its new family on a day/time agreed upon by both parties.
Adoption fees range from 250-350 and that includes spay/neuter, microchip, rabies. utd vaccinations and deworm. It is a tax deductible contribution to our rescue , and can be deducted from your federal taxes.

An adoption contract must be signed by both parties upon adoption.
