Rescue FAQs

After having a Doberman most of our adult lives, cross posting to help those in need find rescue, volunteering for rescue and long discussions, we decided to take the leap and follow our hearts. Doberman are our children, as we have none of the human variety. We have seen so much over the last few years, especially now with the assistance of Facebook and other social media sites and the internet, and the sharing of Doberman in need of rescue, fostering, and adoption, the many wonderful groups and organizations that work so hard to help the one thing nearest and dearest to all of our hearts, the DOBERMAN PINSCHER. We do this as a labor of love, our way to give back to the breed who has given us so very much and enriched our lives...one Doberman at a time.
FDR is dedicated to the rescuing, rehabilitation and re-homing of the Doberman Pinscher in VA, MD, WV, NC, SC, GA, DC, DE, NJ, PA, NY and a few other areas if rescue assistance is needed and possible. FDR partners with shelters in many states, and assist owner's needing to rehome their Doberman.

Additional adoption info

Our adoption process consists of an adoption application, we do verify employment, call for a history of care at your veterinarian, and speak with your two personal (non-family) references provided. Once that checklist is complete a home visit is scheduled, then a determination is made and we will speak with you regarding the Doberman in our program and those coming soon to help you find a match for your environment, lifestyle and breed experience. We ask every potential adopter to complete a 2-4 week In-Home Trial period depending on the Doberman placed, and we assist our families with acclimating their new addition into their home, offer training advice and more during the trial period. Once complete we verify both humans and Doberman are bonding, and at this time finalize the adoption contract. FDR, Inc. does require each adopter to complete a minimum of one course in basic manners or obedience at a reputable, positive reinforcement trainer, we will assist you with finding one if you don't already have one.
