Rescue FAQs

We are County Roads Rescue and we were founded in May of 2016 to help with the overwhelming stray issue in East Texas with a focus on Cherokee county. We rescue between 200-300 animals a year and find their perfect forever homes!
We are a 501c3 non-profit rescue who formed to rescue the stray animals of Cherokee County Texas where there is no animal control. We also rescue from shelters in East Texas, who rely on rescues to be no kill or if they are high kill. We have adopted out all the way to Nova Scotia, Canada and do not have restrictions on where adopters live as long as it is in the best interest of the animal.

Adoption steps

  1. Submit Application
    1. Once application is submitted we will schedule a time for step 2.
  2. Meet the Pet
    1. You’re welcome to schedule a meet and greet at our facility.
  3. Sign Adoption Contract
    1. If all goes well with the meet an greet, you have the adoption to foster to adopt or go ahead and sign the contract and pay the fee.

Additional adoption info

Our adoption fees are between $50-$200 for cats and dogs depending on their age and how much vetting they have had (shots are given based on age, all are spayed or neutered after 6 months of age). If they have not been spayed/neutered or received a rabies vaccine due to age, you are required to sign a time sensitive contract stating the procedures will be done. We do not allow animals to be strictly outside animals, cats cannot be declawed, if you are renting we require a letter from your landlord stating he/she is aware of the new pet before the adoption can be final. Other animals in the home must be up to date on vaccines and altered.
