Amelia County Animal Shelter is located in Amelia County, Virginia. We are a government run facility operated by the Amelia County Animal Control. Our mission is to provide animal control as well as animal protection for the County of Amelia. By doing so we hope to bridge the gap between humans and animals, making it a better place for all to live.

Additional adoption info

If you are over 18 yrs of age with a valid Identification card and can provide a loving forver home, then you are in the right place. All owners are required to spay/neuter their new pet within 30 days of the adoption. Pets adopted out of the area must be sterilized prior to leaving the county. There is an adoption fee of $10.00 per animal when picked up.

Our local humane organization (A.P.A.W.) Amelia Patrons for Animal Welfare provides low cost, spay/neuter assistance for Amelia residents and anyone adopting a pet from the Amelia shelter.
