The California City Animal Shelter does not get much exposure and because it is in a rural area, walk-ins are rare. For the past few years, a very small handful of volunteers have teamed up with the shelter/animal control personnel to help keep the facility clean, get animals seen via various social media sites and transport.

California City Animal Shelter is a city shelter run the Police Department. It is staffed by 1 full time animal control officer, 1 part time kennel worker and a few volunteers.
The shelter has 18 dog kennels and 14 cat cages. The city is 203.6 sq miles mostly open desert and has become, unfortunately a dumping ground. This shelter/animal control only serves the California City area. This shelter does not take pets from surrounding areas, only California City city limits.
Out of area adoptions/rescues are okay.
