My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Killy was saved by our excellent Oklahoma rescuer just in time. He was very close to facing a future as bait for fighting dogs...a far too common end for small, unwanted dogs. We're so grateful to the women in Oklahoma who put forth so much time & energy to help these hopeless pups. The first obvious thing is that Killy is gorgeous! His silky hair (once washed and groomed) is amazing in color with golds and brindle running through it. Killy, at approximately 2 years old and 10 lbs is at his prime. Since being rescued, vetted, temperament tested and moved into an OK foster home, Killy has regained his strength and is a happy and very healthy guy. Now he is ready for his trip to Colorado and his forever family. We are searching for an adult home for Killy...he would be a lap dog extraordinaire! Since Killy bonds so strongly with his humans, we will only place him as a single dog - we don't want to put him in the position to share attention... it's a bit hard for Killy when he loves so deeply. It's not that Killy dislikes or is aggressive toward other dogs (he actually likes female dogs) but simply that he's calmer and more content when he doesn't share his home (or his person's lap for that matter!). When in a calm and nurturing situation there is no dog sweeter than Killy. He's a very best friend who is always available for a leisurely walk or a petting session on the couch. He would be overjoyed with a retired couple or individual who enjoys the company of a fuzzy guy...he is great at riding shotgun in the car or socializing with gentle friends. We're also set on Killy living in a house (instead of condo or apartment) with a yard (no matter how small) so he can sun himself and enjoy the great Colorado air. He also has a tendency to express himself when he's excited or playful with some barking...we don't want a situation where wall-sharing neighbors get unhappy. This type of barking can easily be dealt with through training or a citronella (humane) bark collar...no one has ever taken the time or effort to bother. Killy's foster mom put it well, -Killy is the absolute, hands down best friend & cuddler for an adult! I think the fast movements and loud voices of children scare him..could have been a previous scary experience. I just put Killy on my bed with a toy when my young & very loud grandchildren come...he's very happy and secure with that arrangement. The adult(s) that bring this guy into their family have a devoted...and gorgeous I might add...companion for life!- Killy is a non-shedding guy and will therefore require periodic grooming and great nutrition to keep his stunning, cotton-soft coat healthy and matt free.

Killy will be arriving on transport in Denver on 1/11. Applications are currently being accepted for this exceptional and super-loving companion.
