My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

We often wonder what is running through people's minds when they make a decision to dump 2 wonderful and loving dogs because they've become inconvenient...where is their heart?? Such are our thoughts with Lombardi (he got disposed of with his best doggy friend Libby)...and it's only great luck and a few loving humans who changed his destiny. Lombardi and Libby were dumped in rural Oklahoma when they turned 3 and were no longer puppy-cute and novel (Don't you wonder why they wouldn't have brought them to a shelter at least??). Just in time, a kind person happened along the way and took pity on this twosome. We suppose they weren't aware that the shelter they chose to drop the dogs off at was a very high-kill facility. But Lombardi and Libby (to our joy) were meant to survive their ordeal and get rescued by a compassionate representative of Farfel's in Oklahoma. The pups were brought to be vetted and temperament tested and passed all with flying colors...Lombardi's temperament was acknowledged as being exceptional! He is now safely in his foster home...being nurtured with love and hugs while being taught skills so important in the development of any dog. His incredibly matted hair had to be shaved to the skin..now it can grow into the gorgeous coat that is typical of his breed mix. Lombardi is so over-the-top beautiful and loving...it's impossible to be angry with him. He tries so hard but we need to be reminded that he's a young guy...just about 2 years old and 14 lbs... who needs to be shown the way by a patient and loving human who understands the boundaries necessary for any dog. Lombardi is a willing student...with frequent socialization with both dogs and humans, he will continue along the path of a loving and well-adjusted adult dog. Positive reinforcement group training class is a great tool for family bonding as well as developing great behavior when out in the community. We are searching for an active, involved family for Lombardi. It will be dog-lovers who choose to have their dog involved in their life. We don't want Lombardi to be left behind while his people spend long hours at work or other activities. He's very portable at 14 lbs and would be a great companion for walks, riding shotgun in the car, or visiting with dog-friendly friends. Lombardi would be overjoyed with learning the social skills to window shop or come along to work and do well in urban settings. Lombardi just naturally has a calm and sweet temperament that is perfect for a family with children and other dogs or dedicated retirees...he is so positive and affectionate that working with him on new skills should be very easy - he really wants to please! Lombardi is a combo of a Lhasa Apso and Poodle...due to this breed mix, Lombardi is a non-shedding guy (thought to be the most hypoallergenic of breed mixes) and will require periodic grooming and great nutrition to keep his cotton-soft coat healthy and matt-free.
This very loving and cuddly guy will be arriving on transport in Denver on 3/8. Applications are currently being accepted for this exceptional family companion.
